Andrew McNamara (jockey)
Andrew McNamara is a retired Irish National Hunt jockey. McNamara had his first winning ride on La Captive in a bumper at Wexford in July 2002. He turned professional at the beginning of the 2004-05 season. In 2006 he won the Queen Mother Champion Chase on Newmill. He also won the 2010 Irish Grand National on Bluesea Cracker. On 14 August 2015 he won on his last ride, which was on The Right Honourable at Tramore. McNamara retired on a winner when he partnered the 'Shark' Hanlon-trained Most Honourable at Tramore on 14 August 2015 and immediately turned his attentions to training. He trained his first winner at Punchestown on 14 May 2016 when Double Speak won the opening maiden hurdle in the hands of Robbie Power TV In 2013 he appeared on documentary The Irish Road To Cheltenham which was shown on RTÉ One television in Ireland. Greenmount Park Novice Chase
The Faugheen Novice Chase is a Grade 1 National Hunt race in Ireland. It is run at Limerick Racecourse in December over a distance of about 2 miles and 3½ furlongs (2 miles 3 furlongs and 160 yards, or 3,968 metres). The race is run on St. Stephen's Day, during the course's Christmas Festival. It is currently sponsored by Matchbook betting exchange. It was previously contested at Grade 2 level and was raised to Grade 1 status from the 2018 running. Prior to 2020 it was run as the Greenmount Park Novice Chase before being renamed in honour of Faugheen, the 2019 winner of the race. The Hatton's Grace Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race in Ireland which is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Fairyhouse over a distance of about 2 miles and 4 furlongs (4,023 metres), and during its running there are twelve hurdles to be jumped. The race is scheduled to take place each year in late November or early December. The event is named after Hatton's Grace, a three-time winner of the Champion Hurdle trained by Vincent O'Brien. It was established in 1994, and it has held Grade 1 status throughout its history. Melling Chase
The Melling Chase, currently known for sponsorship purposes as the Marsh Chase, is a Grade 1 National Hunt steeplechase in Great Britain which is open to horses aged five years or older. It is run at Aintree over a distance of about 2 miles and 4 furlongs (4,023 metres), and during its running there are sixteen fences to be jumped. The race is scheduled to take place each year in early April. The event is named after Melling, a nearby village which is made famous by Melling Road, a public road which crosses the racecourse. It was established in 1991, and it has held Grade 1 status throughout its history. The race is currently staged on the second day of the three-day Grand National meeting. The Spring Juvenile Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race in Ireland. It is run at Leopardstown Racecourse in February, over a distance of 2 miles. The race is restricted to four-year-old horses only and is usually contested by horses who go on to run in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. The Golden Cygnet Novice Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt novice hurdle race in Ireland which is for horses aged five years or older. It is run at Leopardstown over a distance of about 2 miles and 6 furlongs (4,426 metres). The race is scheduled to take place each year in late January or early February. The race was first run in 1999 and is named in honour of Golden Cygnet, a racehorse trained by Edward O'Grady who was fatally injured while racing in 1978.
