Andrew Balbirnie
Andrew Balbirnie (born 28 December 1990) is an Irish cricketer, the current captain of the Ireland cricket team in all formats. Balbirnie is a right-handed batsman and an occasional wicket-keeper. He was born in Dublin and was educated at St. Andrew's College. He was one of the 11 cricketers to play in Ireland's first ever Test match, against Pakistan, in May 2018. In December 2018, he was one of 19 players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season. In November 2019, Balbirnie was named as the captain of Ireland's Test and ODI team, after William Porterfield stepped down. Later the same month, he was also named as the captain of Ireland's Twenty20 International (T20I) team, replacing Gary Wilson. The Pakistan national cricket team or Pak cricket team, often referred to as the Shaheens (), Green Shirts, Men in Green and Cornered Tigers is administered by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). 2010 ICC World Cricket League Division One
The 2010 ICC World Cricket League Division One was a cricket tournament which took place in July 2010 in the Netherlands. It formed part of the World Cricket League competition administered by the International Cricket Council, the international governing body for cricket. Division One, which is the successor to the now defunct ICC 6 Nations Challenge, is the highest tier of the World Cricket League, and is effectively the second level of one-day cricket for national teams below the 10 Test-playing nations. All teams competing in the 2010 Division One tournament qualified for the climax of the World Cricket League, the 2013 ICC World Cup Qualifier. Euro T20 Slam
The Euro T20 Slam is a planned professional Twenty20 cricket league. The first edition of the tournament was initially scheduled to start in August 2019, with matches to be held in Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands. It's launch has been postponed on several occasions due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. History In March 2019, Cricket Scotland, Cricket Ireland and Royal Dutch Cricket Association officially announced the Euro T20 Slam. It was to start on 30 August and conclude on 22 September 2019 and feature 33 matches. The tournament was to have six city-based franchise teams, two each from Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands. 2018 Inter-Provincial Championship
The 2018 Inter-Provincial Championship was the sixth edition of the Inter-Provincial Championship, a first-class cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 1 May to 6 September 2018. It was the second edition of the competition to be played with first-class status. Leinster Lightning were the defending champions. The venue for the opening fixture, originally scheduled to take place at Oak Hill Cricket Club Ground, was moved to Pembroke Cricket Club, due to poor weather. Seventeen of Ireland's international players took part in the opening fixture of the tournament, ahead of Ireland's first Test match, which was played against Pakistan on 11 May 2018. North West Warriors won the tournament, following the conclusion of the fifth match of the competition. They beat Northern Knights by 140 runs to give them an unassailable lead. The 2018 Inter-Provincial Trophy was the sixth edition of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket competition that was played in Ireland. It was held from 18 May to 8 July 2018. It was the second edition of the competition to be played with full Twenty20 status. Leinster Lightning were the defending champions. They won the tournament, with five wins from their six matches. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. 2010 U-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was the eighth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup and took place in New Zealand. Since 1998, the tournament has been held every 2 years. This edition had 16 teams competing in 44 matches between 15 and 30 January 2010. These included the 10 ICC Full Members and 6 Qualifiers. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in Kenya, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) moved it to New Zealand after an inspection in June 2009 found that it would be unrealistic to expect Kenya to complete preparations in time. Australia won the tournament, beating Pakistan in the final by 25 runs. The 2009 ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifier was an international cricket tournament played in Canada from 1 to 13 September 2009. All matches were held in Toronto. The tournament served as the final state of the qualification process for the 2010 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. Ireland Under-19 Cricket Team
The Ireland national under-19 cricket team represents All-Ireland in under-19 international cricket. Ireland has qualified for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup on eight occasions, most recently in 2018. This is the most of any European country outside England.
