Andree Welge (born 6 May 1972) is a German professional darts player who competed in events of the World Darts Federation (WDF). Career Welge made his World Championship debut in the 2002 BDO World Darts Championship where he lost in the first round 3–2 to Eric Clarys. He made his PDC debut in the 2006 PDC World Darts Championship, where he was defeated 3–0 by Alan Warriner-Little in the first round. Four years later, he qualified for the 2010 PDC World Darts Championship, but was beaten 3–0 by Mark Dudbridge in the first round. In the 2011 PDC World Darts Championship he was close to beating Colin Lloyd in the first round, having three matchdarts, but ultimately lost 3–2. In June 2012, he earned a place in the European Tour Event 2 in Berlin by defeating Andreas Krockel and Matheus Ziolkowski in the Home Nation Qualifier. Paul Nicholson (darts Player)
Paul Michael Nicholson (born 10 May 1979) is an English former professional darts player who played in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He won a major event, the 2010 Players Championship Finals, where he defeated Mervyn King in the final. He was also the runner-up to Phil Taylor in the 2011 Championship League Darts, and part of the Australia team which lost a sudden death shoot-out to England in the 2012 PDC World Cup of Darts final. Nicholson also acts as a sports commentator and TV and radio pundit. He was nicknamed "The Asset", and was known for coming on to the stage with sunglasses, and was also known for his Wrestling-style walk ons, using the song "Club Foot" as his walk on music for most of his career. Jani Haavisto (born 11 May 1987) is a Finnish former professional darts player. Career Haavisto won two events on the Professional Darts Corporation's Scandinavian Tour in 2012, finishing second in the Order of Merit to qualify for the 2013 PDC World Darts Championship. He defeated compatriot Jarkko Komula in the preliminary round, before being beaten 1–3 in sets by Gary Anderson in the first round, receiving praise for his high-scoring. Jyhan Artut (born 9 October 1976) is a German professional darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Artut defeated Wayne Mardle 3–0 in the 2010 PDC World Darts Championship in the first round. He was beaten 4–1 by Robert Thornton in the second round. He won the German Championship in 2009 and 2010. With the latter win he qualified for the PDC World Darts Championship for his second consecutive year. The 2013 Betfair World Cup of Darts was the third edition of the PDC World Cup of Darts which took place between 1–3 February 2013 at the Alsterdorfer Sporthalle in Hamburg, Germany. England's Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis were the defending champions after defeating Australia's Simon Whitlock and Paul Nicholson in the 2012 final, and they retained their title by defeating the Belgian brothers Ronny and Kim Huybrechts 3–1 in the final. Kirk Shepherd
Kirk Shepherd (born 5 October 1986) is an English former professional darts player who competed in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournaments. He was the youngest player ever to reach the final of the World Professional Darts Championship in 2008. Career BDO Shepherd won the Winmau World Youth Masters in 2003, the British Teenage Singles Champion in 2004 and 2006 and was twice voted British Darts Organisation Young Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006. At the age of just 18, he reached the final of the BDO Gold Cup in 2005. 2013 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2013 Ladbrokes World Darts Championship was the 20th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The event took place at the Alexandra Palace, London between 14 December 2012 and 1 January 2013. Adrian Lewis was the defending champion having won the last two editions of the tournament, but was beaten by Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals, thus ending Lewis' 15 match unbeaten run at the World Championship. Phil Taylor aged 52 claimed his 16th and last World Championship title with a 7–4 victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final, despite trailing 0–2 and then 2–4 after six sets. Tomas Seyler
Tomas Seyler (born 16 July 1974), nicknamed "Shorty", is a German former professional darts player. Career Seyler reached the second round of the Winmau World Masters in 2003, beating Vincent van der Voort in the first round, but lost to Raymond van Barneveld. He also reached the Quarter-Finals of the World Darts Trophy in 2004, beating Bob Taylor and Tony West before losing to Martin Adams. He won the German Gold Cup in 2005. Brendan Gabriel Dolan (born 2 August 1973) is a Northern Irish professional darts player from County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is best known for becoming the first player to hit a nine-dart finish in a "double-to-start" event (Where a player must hit a double, with a maximum value of 40, to begin play, as opposed to the traditional free choice, 60 point maximum first dart), which he did at the 2011 World Grand Prix. Nine-dart Finish
A nine-dart finish, also known as a nine-darter, is a perfect leg or single game in the sport of darts. The object of the game is to score a set number of points, most commonly 501; in order to win, a player must reach the target total exactly and hit a double scoring area with their last dart. When the target is 501, the minimum number of darts needed to reach it is nine. For example, one way to achieve a nine-dart finish is to score 60 (triple 20) on each of the first seven throws, then a 57 (triple 19) on the eighth, and lastly a 24 (double 12) on the ninth. It is regarded as an extremely difficult feat to achieve even for the sport's top players, and is considered the highest single-game achievement in the sport, similar to a maximum 147 break in snooker or a 300-point game in bowling.
