Andreas Randel
Andreas Randel (6 October 1806 – 27 October 1864) was a Swedish composer and violinist. The overture to his ''The People from Vårmland'' was recorded by Kungliga Hovkapellet Stig Westerburg. Randel got his last name from Ramdala parish; he was originally called Pettersson. He worked as a concertmaster at the Royal Swedish Opera, regiment musician and was a professor at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music when he died. Randel learned to play pole shoes and hymns on a violin he got from a wandering player. In 1818 he came to Karlskrona where he was noted for his talent, among others by free lord Gerhard De Geer, who raised him together with his own sons. In 1821, with the support of Crown Prince Oscar, he traveled to Paris to study violin playing for Pierre Baillot and composition for Luigi Cherubini. 2nd Life Grenadier Regiment (Sweden)
The 2nd Life Grenadier Regiment ( sv, Andra livgrenadjärregementet), designation I 5, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traced its origins back to the 16th century. It was merged into a new regiment in 1927. The regiment's soldiers were recruited from the province of Östergötland. History The regiment has its origins in fänikor (companies) raised in Östergötland in the 16th century. These units later formed Östergötland Infantry Regiment and Östergötland Cavalry Regiment which merged in 1791 and formed Life Grenadier Regiment. This regiment was split in 1816 creating 2nd Life Grenadier Regiment and 1st Life Grenadier Regiment. The regiment was allotted in 1687. Oscar I (born Joseph François Oscar Bernadotte; 4 July 1799 – 8 July 1859) was King of Sweden and Norway from 8 March 1844 until his death. He was the second monarch of the House of Bernadotte. The only child of King Charles XIV John, Oscar inherited the thrones upon the death of his father. Throughout his reign he would pursue a liberal course in politics in contrast to Charles XIV John, instituting reforms and improving ties between Sweden and Norway. In an address to him in 1857, the Riksdag declared that he had promoted the material prosperity of the kingdom more than any of his predecessors. Fredrik August Dahlgren
Fredrik August Dahlgren (20 September 1816 – 16 February 1895) was a Swedish writer, playwright and songwriter. Biography Dahlgren was born in Nordmark parish in Värmland, Sweden. He was the son of Barthold Dahlgren, the manager of the mines at Taberg, and Anna Carolina Svensson. After finishing school at Karlstads gymnasium in Karlstad, he matriculated at Uppsala University in 1834, completing a filosofie magister degree in 1839. In 1841 he was hired at the Ministry of Education and Ecclesiastical Affairs where he served until 1848. He served in the National Archives of Sweden from 1848. He became chancellor in 1862 and in 1871 secretary of the ecclesiastical ministry. In 1874, Dahlgren became Acting Head of the Office for Health and Poverty Affairs and Chancellor in 1878. Par Bricole
Par Bricole is a Swedish Bacchanalian order society for men only, founded in Stockholm on 15 May 1779 in Källaren Kejsarkronan at Drottninggatan 6. The main sources of inspiration were the Freemasons and Carl Michael Bellman's sayings about Bacchus. The name Par Bricole comes from a French billiards term, meaning "with bounce". Within the society, it is traditionally and a bit improperly interpreted instead as "by chance", actually "by detours", "indirectly", and is usually abbreviated "P.B." Par Bricole's mother lodge is still in Stockholm and is housed in the order's "tribal house" Bellmanhuset by Urvädersgränd.
