Andreas Christofides
Andreas Drakos Christofides ( el, Αντρέας Δράκος Χριστοφίδης; born 14 October 1992) is a Cypriot professional footballer who played as a centre back for Nea Salamina in the Cypriot First Division. Career APOEL Christofides is a product of APOEL Academies. He was promoted to the first team in the 2011–12 season, but he didn't made any official appearance until the end of the 2012–13 season. In July 2013, he joined Alki Larnaca on a season-long loan deal from APOEL, in order to gain valuable first team experience. During his loan spell, Christofides was a regular starter for Alki, appearing in 20 league matches. On 4 June 2014, he returned to APOEL and signed a one-year contract extension with the club. He made his official APOEL debut on 28 January 2015, playing the full 90 minutes in his team's 3–0 home win against Olympiakos Nicosia for the Cypriot Cup. Cypriot Super Cup
The Cypriot Super Cup is a Cypriot football trophy, contested in an annual match between the previous season's Cypriot First Division champions, and the Cypriot Cup winners. The match is contested at the beginning of the football season, and is usually played at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia. The most successful team in the competition are Omonia, who have won the trophy on 17 occasions. The current holders are Apollon Limassol, who defeated Omonia 2–0 in the 2022 match. History The first match was played in 1951, under the name Pakkos Shield (Greek: Ασπίδα Πάκκου). The trophy was not awarded to the winner of the match, but would instead be awarded to the overall most successful team in the competition, after 10 matches. The Cypriot Cup () is the main cup competition in Cypriot football, run by the Cyprus Football Association (CFA). It began in 1934, the same season with the Cypriot Championship. It is the second most important competition for Cypriot club teams after Cypriot Championship. Only the Cypriot First Division and the second division teams are participating in the competition. The Cypriot Second Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Β΄ Κατηγορίας) is the second highest football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administrated by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top two teams being promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last four teams being relegated to the Cypriot Third Division.
