Anders Wejryd
Anders Harald Wejryd (born 8 August 1948) is a Swedish Lutheran clergyman. Having been Bishop of Växjö since 1995, he was elected Archbishop of Uppsala and primate of the Church of Sweden in March 2006 and took office in September of the same year. He left office in 2014, and was replaced with Antje Jackelén. Early life and ministry Wejryd studied at Uppsala University, where he received his Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1972. In the same year, he was ordained priest in Västerås. He has served as priest in Västerås, Munktorp and Arboga, and was vicar of the parish Munktorp-Odensvi from 1978 to 1985, and vicar of Arboga parish and rural dean of the deanery Köping-Arboga from 1985 to 1987. In the 1980s, he continued part-time doctoral studies, doing research on Nathan Söderblom's missionary work until 1987, when his new job left him no time to continue. The Archbishop of Uppsala (spelled Upsala until the early 20th century) has been the primate (bishop), primate of Sweden in an unbroken succession since 1164, first during the Roman Catholic Church, Catholic era, and from the 1530s and onward under the Lutheran church. Historical overview There have been bishops in Uppsala from the time of Swedish King Ingold I, Ingold the Elder in the 11th century. Arboga
Arboga () is a locality and the seat of Arboga Municipality in Västmanland County, Sweden with 10,330 inhabitants in 2010. Overview The city of Arboga is known to have existed as a town since the 13th century but the area has been inhabited since around 900 AD. The name (originally Arbugæ) consists of the two words "Ar" which in ancient Swedish means river and bughi which means "bend" and which together have the meaning "river bend". An officiant is someone who officiates (i.e. leads) at a service or ceremony, such as marriage, burial, or namegiving/baptism. Ragnar Persenius
Per Ragnar Theodor Persenius (born 27 June 1952) was the Bishop of Uppsala from 2000 till his retirement in 2019. He previously headed the Church of Sweden's Department of Theology and Ecumenism. Biography The son of Walter Persenius, pastor of Ullånger, he was born in Uppsala and grew up in Jämtland and Härjedalen. After attending Fjellstedtska School in Uppsala, he studied law, philosophy and theology, receiving a doctorate from Lund University in 1988. Ordained in 1973, he first served as parish priest of Bro (1973–1976) before becoming educational advisor for the Diocese of Uppsala (1977–1980).
