"And We Run" is a studio EP and single by Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation from their sixth studio album ''Hydra'' which features American rapper Xzibit. It was released on May 23, 2014 containing three demos from the album and different versions of the title song. The music video was released on the same day. Background The idea of putting rap verses on the song came from guitarist Robert Westerholt, who personally enjoys the genre. Xzibit came to the group's mind due to the fact that he was already featured on crossover works with metal bands such as Korn and Alice Cooper, plus Westerholt desired to have a rapper with deep vocals to contrast den Adel's melodic vocals. The band's management disagreed with the idea of the inclusion of a rapper at first, fearing a career drop for the band. Ruud Jolie
Ruud Jolie (born Rudolf Adrianus Jolie on 19 April 1976 in Tilburg, Netherlands) is the lead guitarist of the symphonic metal band Within Temptation. Early life Ruud is an only child. Growing up, he first initiated himself to music by playing the keyboards, but his passion for music developed in favor of the guitar soon after he watched a video of an Iron Maiden concert. Martijn Spierenburg
Martijn Spierenburg (born 30 January 1975) is a composer and arranger. He is also keyboard player for the Dutch symphonic rock band Within Temptation. In 2018, it was announced that he would be the composer for the musical "Nieuw Amsterdam", which describes the role of the Dutch during the emergence of the city of New York, back in the Golden Age. Dave Pirner
David Anthony Pirner (born April 16, 1964) is an American songwriter, singer, and producer best known as the lead vocalist and frontman for the alternative rock band Soul Asylum. Early life and work Pirner was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and graduated from Minneapolis West High School in 1982. He taught himself how to play the drums. By age 20, Pirner started his career drumming with a punk band called Loud Fast Rules as part of the Minneapolis scene, together with Karl Mueller (bass) and Dan Murphy (guitar). When Pirner switched to singing and playing rhythm guitar, Pat Morley joined on drums. Morley was later replaced by Grant Young, and the band changed their name to Soul Asylum.
