Anchorage Public Schools is a public school district in Jefferson County, based in Anchorage, Kentucky. District boundaries The district boundaries almost exactly coincide with those of the city of Anchorage, with small portions of the city lying outside the district. Tiny portions of the district lie within the city of Middletown, and even smaller portions within what the United States Census Bureau calls the " Louisville/Jefferson County balance"—the area where the only local government is the merged government of Louisville and Jefferson County. Anchorage is a home rule-class city in eastern Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,348 at the 2010 census and an estimated 2,432 in 2018. It is a suburb of Louisville. History The land that is now Anchorage was a part of Isaac Hite's 1773 land grant, which awarded most of the land in today's Jefferson County to officers in the Virginia militia, in exchange for their service in the French and Indian War. Early maps refer to the area as "Hite's Mill", and it has also been known as "Hobbs Station". Part of Hite's original grant now makes up the grounds of Central State Hospital and E. P. Hardin County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Kentucky. Its county seat is Elizabethtown. The county was formed in 1792. West Point Independent School District
West Point Independent School District was a PreK-8 school district headquartered in West Point, Kentucky. It operated one school, West Point Independent School, with Elizabethtown High School being the main feeder high school. In 1804 the school was established. Circa 2002 the school had 180 students. In 2019 Wayne Lewis, the Kentucky Commissioner of Education, argued that he had "major concerns" on whether the district can continue to operate. In July 2019 the district was exploring whether to merge with Hardin County Schools, which would change the assigned high school of the territory to North Hardin High School. Southgate Independent Schools
Southgate Independent Schools is a school district located in Southgate, Campbell County, Kentucky. It is one of four Kentucky school districts that does not operate a high school, only serving students through eighth grade. The Southgate district has reciprocal agreements with multiple Northern Kentucky districts to allow its students to attend high school in those districts. A 2015 report by the Legislative Research Commission, the research arm of the Kentucky General Assembly, indicated that a majority of Southgate high school students then attended Highlands High School in the Fort Thomas district, and a large minority attended Newport High School in that city's district. Pulaski County is a county in the U.S. Commonwealth of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 65,034. Its county seat is Somerset. The county was founded in December 1798 from land given by Lincoln and Green Counties and named for Polish patriot Count Casimir Pulaski. Pulaski County comprises the Somerset, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area. Somerset's population is just over 11,000, but the Micropolitan Area for Somerset/Pulaski County is over 65,000.
