Anastassia Zoubkova
Anastasiya Viktorovna Zubkova (Анастасия Викторовна Зубкова, born 3 February 1980) is a Russian female water polo player. She was a member of the Russia women's national water polo team. She was a part of the team at the 2004 Summer Olympics. On club level she played for Uralochka Zlatoust in Russia. She is the twin sister of water polo player Anna Zubkova, who competed for the Kazakhstan national team at the 2004 Olympics. Chelyabinsk ( rus, Челя́бинск, p=tɕɪˈlʲæbʲɪnsk, a=Ru-Chelyabinsk.ogg; ba, Силәбе, ''Siläbe'') is the administrative center and largest city of Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia. Uralochka-ZMZ Zlatoust (russian: Динамо-Уралочка) is a Russian professional women's water polo club from Zlatoust. History In the Russian Empire Water polo in Russia dates back to 1910, when the sport was included into the national water sports programme. The Shuvalov school was opened back then, featuring rules that differed from the international rules. Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. The women's water polo tournament at the 2004 Summer Olympics was contested between August 16 and August 26 at the Olympic Aquatic Centre in the Athens Olympic Sports Complex. Eight teams qualified for the Games, with Italy defeating the host nation Greece for the gold medal. The United States won the bronze medal.
