Maitland () is a city in the Lower Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia and the seat of Maitland City Council, situated on the Hunter River approximately by road north of Sydney and north-west of Newcastle. It is on the New England Highway approximately from its origin at Hexham. Division Of Paterson
The Division of Paterson is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. It is located just north of Newcastle, on the coast of the Tasman Sea. The division is named after federation-era poet and author Banjo Paterson and was originally created in 1949 and abolished in 1984. It was recreated after a redistribution in 1992. The division is centred on the lower Hunter Valley and the outer suburbs of Greater Newcastle. It includes the city of Maitland and the towns of Kurri Kurri, Nelson Bay, Raymond Terrace and Salamander Bay. The City of Maitland is a local government area in the lower Hunter region of New South Wales, Australia. The area is situated adjacent to the New England Highway and the Hunter railway line. The Mayor of the City of Maitland is Cr. David Threlfo, an Independent politician. Proposed amalgamation A 2015 review of local government boundaries by the NSW Government Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal recommended the merger of a number of adjoining councils. In the initial proposal, the City of Maitland was not included in any amalgam ation proposals. However, following the lodging of an alternate proposal by Mid-Coast Council Council to amalgamate the Gloucester, Great Lakes and Greater Taree councils, the NSW Minister for Local Government proposed a merger between the Dungog Shire with the City of Maitland. Henry Luke White
Henry Luke White (9 May 1860 – 30 June 1927) was a wealthy grazier, and a keen philatelist, book collector, amateur ornithologist and oölogist of Scone, New South Wales, Australia. Personal life Born 9 May 1860 at Anambah third son of pastoralist Francis White and his wife Mary Hannah nee Cobb. He first went to Calder House in Redfern in 1875 he attended the Goulburn School at Garroorigang. In 1884 he became a qualified surveyor and in 1885 became the manager of Belltrees near Scone which he owned with his younger brothers William, Arthur, and Victor. His older brother James was also a pastoralist and would later serve on the New South Wales Legislative Council. James had married Emiline Eliza Ebsworth in 1882 and in a dynastic union, Henry married a Emiline's sister, Louisa Maude, on 14 April 1887. His brother Arthur married a third sister, Millicent, in 1893. Belltrees had 96,000 merino sheep and 10,000 cross bred sheep that would take five months each year to shear ... Anambah House
Anambah House is a heritage-listed residence at Anambah Road, Anambah, New South Wales, Anambah, a suburb of City of Maitland, Maitland in the Hunter region of New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by J. W. Pender and built from 1889 to 1906. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. History Anambah House was built in 1889 by the wealthy grazier J. K. Mackay for his son William. It was designed by architect J. W Pender of Maitland, New South Wales, Maitland. Architectural drawings exist but they do not indicate a garden layout. This family is thought to have owned properties in Queensland which may have been the source of the bottle tree, often associated with droving, and the lacebark trees. Oral history sources suggest that cattle drives from Queensland properties terminated at the Anambah property before going to the Sydney markets.
