Ana Kaštelan
Ana Kaštelan (born 1980) is a retired Croatian female volleyball player. She was part of the Croatia women's national volleyball team. Kaštelan competed with the national team at the 1999 Women's European Volleyball Championship, finishing second. She competed with the national team at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, finishing 7th. Kaštelan retired from competitive volleyball in 2005. Croatian Olympic Committee
The Croatian Olympic Committee ( hr, Hrvatski olimpijski odbor (HOO)) is the non-profit organization representing Croatian athletes in the International Olympic Committee. The COC organizes Croatia's representatives at the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. It also organizes the Croatian contingent at smaller events such as the Mediterranean Games. Members of the committee are 44 sports federations, which elect the Executive Council composed of the president and 15 members. In 2006, the COC organized the first Croatian World Games in Zadar. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. 1999 Women's European Volleyball Championship
The 1999 Women's European Volleyball Championship was the 21st edition of the event, organised by Europe's governing volleyball body, the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball. It was hosted in Rome and Perugia, Italy from 20 to 25 September 1999. Participating teams Format The tournament was played in two different stages. In the first stage, the eight participants were divided in two groups of four teams each. A single round-robin format was played within each group to determine the teams' group position. The second stage of the tournament consisted of two sets of semifinals to determine the tournament final ranking. The group stage firsts and seconds played the semifinals for first to fourth place and group stage thirds and fourths played the fifth to eighth place semifinals. The 2000 women's Olympic volleyball tournament was the tenth edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee. It was held from 16 to 30 September 2000 in the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Darling Harbour. Qualification Format The tournament was played in two different stages.
