Amoskeag Rugby Club
The Amoskeag Rugby Football Club is a Rugby union, rugby club in Manchester, New Hampshire. They play in Division I of the New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU). Founded in 1984, they play at the Northeast Athletic Club in Pembroke, New Hampshire. The club's colors are red and black. History The Amoskeag Rugby Club was formed in 1984 by members of the Concord Rugby Club. Based in Manchester, New Hampshire, the club draws members from throughout central and southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. Amoskeag started play in the Third Division of the New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU). After capturing the Third Division championship several times, the club moved into the Second Division and captured the division championship in both the spring and fall of 1990 and the spring of 1991. New England Rugby Football Union
The New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU) is a Geographical Union (GU) for rugby union teams in New England. Prior to 2013, NERFU had been a local area union ("LAU"), and part of the Northeast Rugby Union (NRU), which is the governing body for three LAU's (New York State Rugby Football Conference (NYSRFC) and Metropolitan New York Rugby Union being the others). There are currently over 80 active teams and over 3,000 registered players in the New England area. Pembroke, New Hampshire
Pembroke is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 7,207 at the 2020 census. Pembroke includes part of the village of Suncook. The center of population of New Hampshire is close to the Pembroke town center. History First granted in 1728, the town was known as "Lovewell's Town", in honor of Captain John Lovewell, who built the stockade at Ossipee. Shortly afterward, the town took the name of "Suncook", the Pennacook Abenaki name for the river flowing through the area. Saranac Lake is a village in the state of New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,406, making it the largest community by population in the Adirondack Park. The village is named after Upper, Middle and Lower Saranac lakes, which are nearby. The village of Saranac Lake covers parts of three towns ( Harrietstown, St. Armand, and North Elba) and two counties (Franklin and Essex). New Haven Old Black RFC
The New Haven Old Black Rugby Football Club is a rugby club in New Haven, Connecticut. They play in Division II of the Empire Rugby Union. Founded in 1986, they play at Boulevard Field in New Haven. The club's colors are black, green and gold. History 1980s Prior to the start of the club in the Spring of 1986, there was no rugby in the Greater New Haven area. A group of Southern Connecticut State University graduates, led by Robert Chester, applied for membership of the NERFU. The NERFU accepted the petition and the club was allowed to play on a probationary basis. After initially feeling the strain of a minimum of two games a week, Old Black went on to have a highly successful inaugural season, culminating in the win of the Connecticut Cup by upsetting Providence in the final.
