Amorebieta Geralekua Station
is a railway station in Amorebieta-Etxano, Basque Country, Spain. It is owned by Euskal Trenbide Sarea and operated by Euskotren. It lies on the Urdaibai line. History A halt had existed in the location of the current station at least before the civil war, but it was closed on an unknown date. The current station opened in 1973, together with the chord that allowed trains from Bilbao to enter the Urdaibai line directly from the Bilbao-San Sebastián line without the need to reverse at Amorebieta station. The station has a single track with side platforms on both sides, but normally only one of them is in use. Amorebieta-Etxano
Amorebieta-Etxano, also known as Zornotza (Spanish, ''Amorebieta-Echano''), is a town and municipality located in Biscay in the Basque Country, an Autonomous Community in northern Spain. At the time of the 2019 census, the population of the municipality was 19,339, with 16,907 inhabitants living in Amorebieta. The mayor is Andoni Agirrebeitia. Geography Amorebieta-Etxano is an inland town in the comarca of Duranguesado in the province of Biscay in northern Spain. It is about east of Bilbao and close to the European route E70 which runs along the north coast of Spain. Euskal Trenbide Sarea (, es, Red Ferroviaria Vasca), commonly known by its acronym ETS, is a railway infrastructure manager operating in the Basque Country, Spain. Amorebieta Station
Amorebieta is a railway station in Amorebieta-Etxano, Basque Country, Spain. It is owned by Euskal Trenbide Sarea and operated by Euskotren. It lies on the Bilbao-San Sebastián line. History The station opened as part of the Bilbao-Durango line in 1882. In 1888 the Amorebieta-Guernica railway opened. The terminus of the new line had three tracks converging at a turntable as well as a track connecting it to the Bilbao-Durango line. The new terminus didn't have a dedicated passenger building, and travellers used the existing building built for the Bilbao-Durango line. In 1973 a chord was built allowing trains from Bermeo to run directly to Bilbao without having to reverse at Amorebieta, some trains from the Urdaibai line served Amorebieta until 1989.
