Amma Unavagam
Amma Unavagam ''(Tamil: அம்மா உணவகம்)'' is a food subsidisation programme run by the Ministry of Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Tamil Nadu in India. Under the scheme, municipal corporations of the state-run canteens serving subsidised food at low prices. The genesis of the scheme could be traced to the concept of rural restaurants promoted by Nimbkar Agricultural Research Institute. About the name The literal meaning of the name of the scheme Amma Unavagam is Mother's canteen. ''Amma'' translates to ''mother'' in Tamil, but is also a reference to the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa, who introduced this restaurant chain as part of government schemes aimed at aiding economically disadvantaged sections of society. Ahar Yojana
Āhār Yojanā (meaning "food" in Odia) is a food subsidisation program run by the Ministry of Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, Co-operation, Government of Odisha to provide cheap lunch to the urban poor at a price of five rupees inspired from the Amma Unavagam of Tamilnadu. It was inaugurated on April 1, 2015 by the Chief Minister of Odisha Navin Patnaik on Utkal Divas. The program provides meals in five major cities of Odisha. The actual cost of the food is around 20 but is subsidised to 5 with financial assistance from the Odisha Mining Corporation. It is targeted at more than 60,000 people per day. Amma Kudineer (meaning ''Mother drinking-water'' in Tamil language) is a mineral water production and distribution project run by the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of Tamil Nadu in India. About the scheme The project was formally launched on 15 September 2013 by the then chief minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa, on the 105th birth anniversary of former chief minister of Tamil Nadu C. N. Annadurai. The project involves production and packaging of mineral water in one litre plastic bottles, and selling them in long-distance running state-owned buses and in bus stations. The price has been fixed at ₹10 per bottle. The project is intended to make purified water available to people of all strata, at a reasonable cost. The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation is the civic body that governs the city of Coimbatore in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
