Ami Priyono
Lembu Amiluhur Priyawardhana Priyono (23 October 1939 – 6 June 2001), generally referred to as Ami Prijono (Perfected Spelling: Ami Priyono) was an Indonesian film director and actor. He was married to the feminist writer Julia Suryakusuma. Biography Born in Batavia (now Jakarta) on 23 October 1939, Ami was the only child of Priyono, a politician-cum-educator who later became Minister of Education and Culture, and his wife Iwanah. After graduating from senior high school Ami left for Moscow, where he studied cinema at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. After returning to Indonesia Ami began teaching at the National Theatre Academy in Jakarta. In 1968 he joined the domestic film industry, taking the role of artistic director in ''Djampang Mentjari Naga Hitam'' (''Djampang Seeks the Black Dragon''). Dutch East Indies
The Dutch East Indies, also known as the Netherlands East Indies ( nl, Nederlands(ch)-Indië; ), was a Dutch colony consisting of what is now Indonesia. Teguh Karya
Teguh Karya (born Steve Liem Tjoan Hok; ; 22 September 1937 – 11 December 2001) was an Indonesian film director. Starting his entertainment career in theatre, he made his directorial debut with '' Wadjah Seorang Laki-Laki'', released three years later. He later directed numerous critically acclaimed films, including '' Cinta Pertama'', '' Badai Pasti Berlalu'', and ''November 1828''. In 2001 Karya died from complications from a 1998 stroke. Biography Teguh Karya was born Steve Liem Tjoan Hok on 22 September 1937 in Pandeglang, Banten. He was the first child of Chinese Indonesians Laksana Karya (Tjon Hok) and Naomi Yahya; there was some Bantenese descent from his grandmother. Ismail Marzuki Park, (Indonesian: Taman Ismail Marzuki, TIM), is an arts, cultural, and science center located at Cikini in Jakarta, Indonesia. Taman Ismail Marzuki complex comprises a number of facilities including six performing arts theaters, cinemas, exhibition hall, gallery, libraries and an archive building. The complex is built on an 9 hectares land area, which was previously a zoo. TIM is named after Ismail Marzuki, one of Indonesia's most influential composers. ''Lewat Tengah Malam'' (literally ''Past Midnight'') is a 1971 Indonesian film and the first feature-length production by director Sjumandjaja. Starring Rachmat Hidayat, Rima Melati, and Soekarno M. Noer, it follows a thief named Lono who steals from the corrupt to give to the poor. The film, which may have been influenced by '' The Thomas Crown Affair'' (1968), was reportedly very tiring for the director, who briefly considered never directing again. ''Budak Nafsu'' (literally ''Slave to Lust'', also known as ''Fatima'') is a 1983 Indonesian film directed by Sjumandjaja and adapted from the 1981 novel ''Fatima'' by Titie Said. Starring Jenny Rachman and El Manik, it follows a mother who is forced to serve as a comfort woman for Japanese men stationed in British Malaya in an effort to save her daughter. The film was a commercial success, although critics have emphasised its sexual aspects. Plot Fatima (Jenny Rachman) offers herself to be brought away by Japanese occupation of Indonesia, Japanese occupation forces to save her of her daughter, thus resigning herself to the fate of a comfort woman.
