American Outlaws
''American Outlaws'' is a 2001 American Western alternate history film directed by Les Mayfield and starring Colin Farrell, Scott Caan, and Ali Larter. Plot Confederate guerillas attempt to raid the Union Army late in the American Civil War. The guerillas are ambushed, but thanks to the sharp-shooting of Frank James and the distractions of his brother Jesse they survive. The James, along with their buddies, the Younger brothers, congratulate themselves but learn that the Confederacy has pulled out of the war and it is over. The group decides to return to Missouri to their families and farms. When they arrive, their town is occupied by the Union Army. Jesse's childhood friend Zee has grown into an attractive young woman, and there is a man hanging in the town square. Farmers are being pressured to sell their farms to the railroad company, who are pushing across the United States. Les Mayfield
Les Mayfield (born in Albuquerque, New Mexico) is an American retired film director and producer. Career Shortly after graduating the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Les Mayfield formed the ZM Productions with schoolmate George Zaloom. Until its closure in 1998, the company had produced films and television programs such as '' Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse'', '' The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes'', and '' The Cape'' in 16 years. Mayfield made his feature-film debut in 1992 with the comedy ''Encino Man'' starring Pauly Shore and Brendan Fraser. Michael Tronick
Michael Tronick (born March 2, 1949) is an American film editor with more than 25 film credits. He has been nominated twice for American Cinema Editors "Eddie" Awards for '' Scent of a Woman'' (1992) and for ''Hairspray'' (2007). Allan Pinkerton
Allan J. Pinkerton (August 25, 1819 – July 1, 1884) was a Scottish cooper, abolitionist, detective, and spy, best known for creating the Pinkerton National Detective Agency in the United States and his claim to have foiled a plot in 1861 to assassinate president-elect Abraham Lincoln. During the Civil War, he provided the Union Army – specifically General George B. Jesse James
Jesse Woodson James (September 5, 1847April 3, 1882) was an American outlaw, bank and train robber, guerrilla and leader of the James–Younger Gang. Raised in the " Little Dixie" area of Western Missouri, James and his family maintained strong Southern sympathies. He and his brother Frank James joined pro- Confederate guerrillas known as " bushwhackers" operating in Missouri and Kansas during the American Civil War. Frank James
Alexander Franklin James (January 10, 1843 – February 18, 1915) was a Confederate soldier and guerrilla; in the post-Civil War period, he was an outlaw. The older brother of outlaw Jesse James, Frank was also part of the James–Younger Gang. Childhood James was born in Kearney, Missouri, to Baptist minister Reverend Robert Sallee James and his wife Zerelda (Cole) James. The couple came from Kentucky. He was of English, Welsh and Scottish descent. Frank was the oldest of three children. His father died in 1851 and his mother remarried Benjamin Simms in 1852.
