KLVO (97.7 MHz) is an FM radio station serving Central New Mexico. It is licensed to Belen, New Mexico, and is owned by American General Media. Its studios are located in Northeast Albuquerque, and its transmitter is located west of Los Lunas, New Mexico. KLVO broadcasts a New Mexico music and regional Mexican format branded as "Radio Lobo". Station history From 1985 to 1995, 97.7 was KARS-FM, which had a country music format, some of which had remained in existence on KARS long after the FM station dropped the format. In July 1994 KARS AM & FM were sold by Brooks Broadcasting Company to Guardian Communications for $665,000. Shafter is a city in Kern County, California, United States. It is located west-northwest of Bakersfield. The population was 16,988 at the 2010 census, up from 12,736 at the 2000 census. The city is located along State Route 43. Suburbs of Shafter include Myricks Corner, North Shafter, Smith Corner, and Thomas Lane. History The city of Shafter began as a loading dock along the Santa Fe Railroad (former San Francisco and San Joaquin Valley Railroad) right-of-way. The community was named for General William Rufus Shafter who commanded US Forces in Cuba during the Spanish–American War. KISV (94.1 FM, "HOT 94.1") is a Rhythmic Top 40 music formatted radio station based in Bakersfield, California. The American General Media outlet broadcasts with an ERP of 4.5 kW. Its studios are located at the Easton Business Complex in southwest Bakersfield, and its transmitter is located east of the city. History The station signed on the air in 1948 as KERN-FM. It was well known in the 1980s as KQXR or Q94 FM. At that time it had a Top 40 format that leaned towards adult contemporary. After taking a beating from then-rhythmic KKXX 105.3FM, the call letters were changed in 1989 to KERN-FM (94 Oldies), along with the format.
