The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization based in New York City, with a public policy office based in Washington, D.C. The organization's stated mission is to "save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide." __TOC__ History Founded in 1987 as the "American Suicide Association," by Edward Brennan, AFSP is the world's largest private funder of suicide prevention research.
