Amélia (film)
''Amélia'' is a 2001 Brazilian comedy-drama film directed by Ana Carolina, inspired by the visit of French actress Sarah Bernhardt to Brazil, in 1905. In the film, the actress is under a professional and personal crisis, but is induced by her Brazilian housekeeper, Amélia, to start performing in Rio de Janeiro. However, the actress is forced to live with the exotic sisters of Amélia. Ana Carolina had already written the screenplay for the film in 1989, but does not produced due to lack of money. It was shot in Pernambuco and Rio de Janeiro. It debuted at the Biarritz Film Festival where Béatrice Agenin won the best actress award. The film received three nominations at the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro in the categories of best actress, for Miriam Muniz, best screenplay and best art direction. Amelia is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,459 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Morgan City Micropolitan Statistical Area. History The first postmaster named the town after Amelia Dupuis, his fiancée, who died shortly before their wedding day. Geography Amelia is located at (29.673361, -91.103181). On the eastern side of Amelia over Bayou Boeuf is the Assumption Parish line and the unincorporated community of Boeuf, Louisiana. Morgan City is located to the west. Amelia is the birth defect of lacking one or more limbs. It can also result in a shrunken or deformed limb. The term may be modified to indicate the number of legs or arms missing at birth, such as tetra-amelia for the absence of all four limbs. A related term is meromelia, which is the partial absence of a limb or limbs. The term is from Greek ἀ- "lack of" plus μέλος (plural: μέλεα or μέλη) "limb" Symptoms The diagnosis of tetra-amelia syndrome is established clinically and can be made on routine prenatal ultrasonography. St. Lunaire-Griquet is a town in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The town is located near the northern tip of the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. The town had a population of 603 in the Canada 2021 Census. History French fishermen began fishing the region in the 16th century. However, St. Lunaire bay was not mapped until 1784 by the French sailor Liberge de Granchain. An island in the mouth of St. Lunaire bay still bears his namesake. Amelia is a town and ''comune'' of the province of Terni, in the Umbria region of central Italy. It grew up around an ancient hill fort, known to the Romans as Ameria. Geography The town lies in the south of Umbria, on a hill overlooking the Tiber River to the east and the Nera River to the west. The city is north of Narni, from Orte and approximately from Perugia. Amelia Court House (also known as Amelia Courthouse and Amelia) is the county seat of Amelia County in the U.S. state of Virginia and a census-designated place (CDP).
