Boris Vasilyevich Barnet (russian: Бори́с Васи́льевич Ба́рнет; 18 June 1902 – 8 January 1965) was a Soviet film director, actor and screenwriter of British heritage. He directed 27 films between 1927 and 1963. Barnet was awarded the title Merited Artist of the Russian Federation in 1935, and Merited Artist of the Ukrainian SSR in 1951. Early years Boris Barnet was born in Moscow. His grandfather Thomas Barnet was a printer who moved to the Russian Empire from the United Kingdom in the 19th century. A student of the Moscow Art School, he volunteered to join the Red Army at age 18 and was then professionally involved in boxing. In 1923, Barnet graduated from the Central Military School for Physical Education and worked as a sports teacher. At the same time he studied in Lev Kuleshov’s film workshop. Nikolay Ivanovich Bogolyubov (russian: Никола́й Ива́нович Боголю́бов; 22 October 1899 – 9 March 1980) was a Soviet Union, Soviet actor born in Lipetsk Oblast, Ivanovskoye, Russia and a People's Artist of the RSFSR (1945). In 1933 he played in Boris Barnet's ''Okraina (1933 film), Okraina''; in 1941, he was awarded the Stalin State Prize, Stalin Prize. Bogolyubov attended the studio school of the Ryazan town theater and joined its troupe in 1919. In 1923–1926, he studied at the school of the Theater of the Russian Federation (RSFSR) named after its director, Vsevolod Meyerhold. From 1938 to 1958, the actor belonged to the Moscow Art Theater. Irina Petrovna Zarubina (russian: Ирина Петровна Зару́бина; April 22, 1907 – May 20, 1976) was a Soviet and Russian actress. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1951). Biography She was born on April 22, 1907, in Kazan. In 1929, she graduated from the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts, after which she worked at the Leningrad Theater of the Proletcult. Vasily Makarovich Shukshin (russian: Василий Макарович Шукшин; 25 July 1929 – 2 October 1974) was a Soviet Russian writer, actor, screenwriter and film director from the Altai region who specialized in rural themes. A prominent member of the Village Prose movement, he began writing short stories in his early teenage years and later transition to acting by his late 20s. Biography Vasiliy Makarovich Shukshin was born on 25 July 1929 to a peasant family of assimilated Moksha Mordvin origin in the village of Srostki near Biysk in Siberian Krai, Soviet Union (now in Altai Krai, Russia). In 1933, his father, Makar Leontievich Shukshin, was arrested and executed on the charges of participating in an "anti-kolkhoz plot" during the Soviet collectivization. Erast Pavlovich Garin (russian: Эра́ст Па́влович Га́рин; – 4 September 1980) was a Soviet and Russian actor, director and screenwriter. He was, together with Igor Ilyinsky and Sergey Martinson, one of the leading comic actors of Vsevolod Meyerhold's company and of the Soviet cinema.
