Alyans (band)
Alyans (russian: Альянс) or Alliance is a Soviet and Russian rock band formed in 1981 by Igor Zhuravlev, Kostya Gavrilov, Oleg Parastayev and Andrey Tumanov. The band is best known for the 1987 single " Na zare" (). History Early years (1981–1984) Alyans was formed in 1981 in Moscow at the initiative of guitarist Sergei Volodin. The group initially included Igor Zhuravlev on vocals and guitar, Andrey Tumanov on bass, and Vladimir Ryabov on drums. The group's formation coincided with the beginning of the new wave movement in the Soviet Union. At this time, Alyans played ska and reggae as well as cover versions of Debbie Harry, the Police, The B-52s. At the end of 1982, sound engineer Igor Zamaraev heard Alyans at the rock festival "Fiztekh - 1982" () in Dolgoprudny and suggested recording an album. The Moscow Rock Laboratory (; 1986–1992) was an officially sanctioned rock club in Moscow that promoted and controlled the activities of Soviet rock musicians who did not belong to state concert organizations. It is analogous to ''samizdat'', the method of disseminating written works that could not be officially published under Soviet political censorship. Lyube ( rus, Любэ́, p=lʲʉˈbɛ) is a Russian rock band from Lyubertsy, a city in Moscow Oblast. Lyube's music is a mixture of several genres, with influences from both Russian folk music, rock, Russian chanson, and Soviet military songs. The band was founded in 1989, and since then have released sixteen albums. Lyube's producer and main songwriter is Igor Matviyenko. History Igor Matviyenko was a music producer and composer working at the Soviet music studio SPM Record when he came up with the idea to start Lyube in 1988. His goal was to put together a band with patriotic themed songs and a strong male vocal. She was a key figure in popularizing Soviet and Russian rock music and culture in the West in the 1980s. Biography Born Joanna Fields, Stingray is a native of Los Angeles, California. In 1983, Stingray released her U.S. 12-inch, 4-track debut, ''Beverly Hills Brat'', under the name Joanna. In her early musical career, she performed at Studio 54. In 1984, aged 23, Stingray traveled to Leningrad as a tourist with her sister, who was studying in London and had an opportunity to take a trip to visit the Soviet Union for one week.
