Alonso Edward
Alonso Reno Edward Henry (born 8 December 1989), commonly known as Alonso Edward, is a Panamanian sprinter who specialises in the 100 and 200 metres. He set a South American junior record in the 100 m in 2007 and he attended his first World Junior Championships in 2008, finishing in sixth place. He made significant improvements in the 2009 season, setting national records in the 100 m and 200 m in May, and winning both events at the 2009 South American Championships in Athletics. Prior to the 2009 World Championships he again beat the 200 m national record, becoming the fourth fastest runner of the season. At his first ever World Championships he set a South American record to win the silver medal in the 200 metres final, becoming the youngest ever medallist in that event. 2018 South American Games
The 2018 South American Games was a multi-sport event that took place in Cochabamba, Bolivia. It was the 11th edition of the ODESUR South American Games. A total of 373 sporting events are scheduled to be contested across a variety of sports. Background Bolivia, Venezuela and Peru submitted a bid to ODESUR to become host. Following a unanimous decision, the organization awarded it to the city of Cochabamba, as the other cities Lima and Puerto La Cruz withdrew their candidacies. 2007 South American Junior Championships In Athletics
The 37th South American Junior Championships in Athletics (Campeonatos Sudamericanos de Atletismo de Juveniles) were held at the Estádio Ícaro de Castro Melo in São Paulo, Brazil from June 30-July 1, 2007. The Champions for men's 10,000m, both Race Walking and Combined Events were extracted from the classification of the 2007 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships held at the same site one week later from July 6 to July 8, 2007. A detailed report on the results was given. Best performances were the two South American Junior records by Alonso Edward from Panamá in 10.28s in the men's 100m competition, and Jorge McFarlane from Perú who achieved 13.76s (0.0 m/s) in the first heat in 110m hurdles men. The South American U20 Championships in Athletics are the South American championships in the sport of athletics which is open for those in the junior age category (19 years or under). It is organized by the South American Athletics Confederation (CONSUDATLE). The competition was first held in 1959 in Buenos Aires. Athletics competitions have been held at the quadrennial Central American Games that are open for member federations of the Central American Sports Organization (Spanish: Organización Deportiva Centroamericana) ORDECA since the inaugural edition 1973 in Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala. The 1981 games was cancelled due to the unstable political situation in the region. In 2006 the athletics events were not contested by Costa Rica, El Salvador or Panamá.
