Alois Handl
Alois Handl (22 July 1837, Feldkirch, Vorarlberg – 1915, Czernowitz) was an Austrian physicist. In 1859 he obtained his doctorate in Vienna, later becoming a professor at the University of Lemberg. Afterwards he taught classes at the military academy in Wiener Neustadt. In 1876 he established the chair of experimental physics at the University of Czernowitz, a position he maintained until his retirement in 1906. Following his retirement, Handl was succeeded at Czernowitz by Josef Geitler von Armingen (1870-1923). As a physicist he conducted studies in the fields of crystallography, barometry, hydrodensitometry, and also did research involving light absorption, the specific resistance of liquids, and color vision in animals, to name a few. Richard Pribram
Richard Pribram (21 April 1847 – 7 January 1928) was an Austrian chemist. He was the brother of internist Alfred Pribram (1841–1912). Biography Pribram was born on 21 April 1847 in Prague. He studied chemistry in Prague and Munich (under Justus Liebig), later becoming an assistant of organic chemistry at the University of Leipzig. In 1872 he earned his habilitation at Prague, where he worked as a lecturer until 1874. He later taught classes at the University of Czernowitz, becoming a full professor of general and analytical chemistry in 1879. At Czernowitz he served as dean to the faculty (1883–84) and rector (1891–92). As a chemist he conducted analyses of mineral springs in Bucovina, and with Alois Handl (1837–1915), he researched the viscosity of various organic compounds. Wilhelm Ostwald
Friedrich Wilhelm Ostwald (; 4 April 1932) was a Baltic German chemist and German philosophy, philosopher. Ostwald is credited with being one of the founders of the field of physical chemistry, with Jacobus Henricus van 't Hoff, Walther Nernst, and Svante Arrhenius.
