Almudena Fajardo
Almudena Fajardo Ayuso (born 11 August 1996) is a Spanish female professional soft-tip and steel-tip darts player who currently plays in the World Darts Federation (WDF) events. She is a two-time EDU European Darts Champion and first Spanish female player who played in the final of the WDF Europe Cup competition. She was qualified for the 2023 WDF World Darts Championship. Career Fajardo is one of the most successful players from Spain. In 2017, she won two bronze medals in singles and cricket competition at the EDU European Darts Championship in Caorle. A year later, she repeated her success in the cricket competition. In subsequent international competitions, she maintained a good level, however, she was more successful only in the national competitions. In 2022, she was advanced to the EDU European Darts Championship finals for the first time and won her first gold medal in cricket competition, defeated Josipa Brzić. World Masters (darts)
The World Masters is one of the longest-running and most prestigious of the BDO/WDF tournaments, which began in 1974. The tournament is sponsored by darts board manufacturer, Winmau. The World Masters was unusual in darts in that its sets are the best of 3 legs (first to 2) rather than the standard best of 5 legs (first to 3). It was previously the final leg of the BDO's Grand Slam title of televised majors, along with the BDO World Darts Championship, International Darts League and World Darts Trophy, until the latter two tournaments were axed in 2008. The champion is referred to as the World Master. After the collapse of the British Darts Organisation in September 2020, the World Darts Federation announced plans to launch the WDF World Masters. 2023 PDC Women's Series
The 2023 PDC Women's Series consiste of 24 darts tournaments on the 2023 PDC Pro Tour. The top 8 ranked players, with money earned from the last 8 Women's Series events of 2022, and the first 12 events of 2023, qualified for the 2023 Women's World Matchplay in Blackpool, whilst the top 2 players at the end of event 24, qualified for the 2023 PDC World Darts Championship. With Beau Greaves choosing not to participate, that meant, The top-ranked player (apart from already qualified Greaves) also qualifies for the Grand Slam of Darts. Beau Greaves (born 9 January 2004) is an English darts player who currently plays in the World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. She is the current World Darts Federation women's world champion, having won the 2022 WDF World Darts Championship. She is also a WDF Europe Cup Champion. Veronika Ihász (born 20 September 1985) is a Hungarian professional darts player who plays in the World Darts Federation (WDF) events. She is a seven-time Apatin Open Champion and first Hungarian player who qualified for the BDO World Darts Championship, WDF World Darts Championship. Career Ihász started playing darts before 2009. Monique Leßmeister (born 21 August 1987) is a German professional darts player who plays in the World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Her biggest achievement to date was promotion to the final phase of the World Masters and start in the Finder Darts Masters. Career Leßmeister started playing darts in 2004, at the age of 17, in Rhineland-Palatinate, where she won every local championship title from 2005 to 2009. She is currently playing in the DDV Bundesliga for DC Hawks Vilsbiburg. Since 2007, Leßmeister has also competed in various DDV tournaments. Deta Hedman (born 14 November 1959) is an English darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Biography Hedman was born in Jamaica in 1959. Her parents emigrated to the United Kingdom in the early 1960s, leaving Hedman and her siblings in the care of relatives in Jamaica. She spent her childhood with her aunt in Castleton in a shack without running water or electricity, going to school from Monday to Thursday and working on the farm on Fridays. Her parents eventually settled in Witham, Essex and over time, brought their children to the UK, with Hedman joining them in January 1973. World Darts Federation
The World Darts Federation (WDF) is a sport governing body and (along with the PDC) a tournament organiser for the game of darts. It was formed in 1974 by representatives of the original fourteen founding members. Membership is open to the national organizing body for darts in all nations. The WDF encourages the promotion of the sport of darts among and between those bodies, in an effort to gain international recognition for darts as a major sport. The WDF is a full member of Global Association of International Sports Federations, which is the governing body for international sports federations.
