Almir Cunha dos Santos (born 4 September 1993) is a Brazilian male track and field athlete who competes in the triple jump and long jump. He was a silver medallist in the triple jump at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 2018. Athletic career Born in Matupá, in the central state of Mato Grosso, he took up athletics at a young age, initially focusing on the high jump. He moved to Porto Alegre and had his first success at the 2010 South American Youth Championships in Athletics, where he took the gold medal. The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships () was the seventeenth edition of the biennial, global athletics competition organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), since renamed World Athletics. It was held between 27 September and 6 October 2019 in Doha, Qatar, at the renovated multi-purpose Khalifa International Stadium, but reduced to 21,000 available seats. 1,772 athletes from 206 teams competed in 49 athletics events over the ten-day competition, comprising 24 events each for men and women, plus a mixed relay. Athletics competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru were held between July 27 and August 11, 2019 at the Athletics Stadium in the Villa Deportiva Nacional Videna cluster, with the marathon and walks being held at Kennedy Park. A total of 48 events were contested, equally divided among men and women. The women's 50 km walk was added for this edition, marking the first time men and women competed in an equal number of events. Qualification Up to a total of 740 athletes were qualified to compete. The men's triple jump at the 2022 World Athletics Championships was held at the Hayward Field in Eugene on 21 and 23 July 2022. Summary With 17.05m the automatic qualifier, only two jumpers made it on their first attempt, Olympic Gold Medalist Pedro Pichardo and Olympic Silver Medalist Zhu Yaming.
