Alma Cullen
Alma Cullen (10 May 1938 - 7 August 2021) was a screenwriter and playwright, creating scripts for well-known British television dramas ''Inspector Morse'' and ''A Touch of Frost''. Early life Alma Cullen was born in Prescot, Merseyside of working class parents, Frank and Elsie Fitzpatrick. She attended Childwall Valley High School for Girls, leaving school at age 16 to earn money to help support her family. She subsequently attended Liverpool University, studying English and graduating in 1970. While still at university, her first play, '' A Glimpse into the Interior'', was produced by BBC Radio Leeds. Career and awards In the 1970s and 1980s Cullen wrote a series of plays for television. ''Inspector Morse'' is a British crime drama, detective drama television series based on a series of novels by Colin Dexter. It starred John Thaw as Inspector Morse, Detective Chief Inspector Morse and Kevin Whately as Inspector Lewis, Sergeant Lewis. She made her first stage appearance in 1963 as Philia in the London debut of '' A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum''.
