Alsace
Alsace (, ; ; Low Alemannic German/ gsw-FR, Elsàss ; german: Elsass ; la, Alsatia) is a cultural region and a territorial collectivity in eastern France, on the west bank of the upper Rhine next to Germany and Switzerland. Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. Up to 1993 the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results, but since 1994 it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting. Players who are successful on the Challenge Tour qualify for membership of the European Tour the following year. Twenty players earn direct promotion to the European Tour. Alps Tour
The Alps Tour is a developmental professional golf tour for men which is sanctioned by the national golf associations of France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Morocco. Established in 2001, it is a third level tour, the highest level of men's golf in Europe being the European Tour, and the second level being the Challenge Tour. Other third level tours in Europe include the United Kingdom-based PGA EuroPro Tour, the Germany-based Pro Golf Tour, and the Nordic League in the Nordic countries. Beginning in July 2015, the four third-level tours will carry Official World Golf Ranking points. Stroke Play
Stroke play, also known as medal play, is a scoring system in the sport of golf in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In stroke play, the winner is the player who has taken the fewest strokes over the course of the round, or rounds. Although most professional tournaments are played using the stroke play scoring system, some notable exceptions exist. In match play, the player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponents. Romain Wattel
Romain Wattel (born 10 January 1991) is a French professional golfer. In September 2010, Wattel became just the fifth amateur to win on the European Challenge Tour, when he captured the Allianz EurOpen Strasbourg. It was the second win by an amateur during the 2010 season following Andreas Hartø two weeks previously. Wattel turned professional in November 2010. He established himself on the European Tour, with best performances of second at the 2012 Omega European Masters and the 2015 Trophée Hassan II. Wattel finished 28th in the 2014 Race to Dubai. This gave him entry to the 2015 Open Championship where he missed the cut. He qualified for the 2016 U.S. Open, via sectional qualifying in May, and finished 63rd. Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. The 2010 Challenge Tour is a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. Ryan Blaum
Ryan Stephen Blaum (born October 16, 1983) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour, having previously played on Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Latinoamérica and the NGA Pro Golf Tour. Amateur career Blaum played college golf at Duke University and was named as Duke University's Most Valuable Player and the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year during the 2002-03 season. He followed this by being named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in the 2004–05 season. Lorenzo Gagli
Lorenzo Gagli (born 14 October 1985) is an Italian professional golfer. He won the 2018 Barclays Kenya Open, his first win on the Challenge Tour. Professional career Gagli turned professional in 2006. He spent 2007 on the Alps Tour, where he finished fourth on the Order of Merit. As a result, he was promoted to the Challenge Tour, where he played for the 2008 season. He graduated from the qualifying school in 2008 to earn promotion for the European Tour in 2009, but struggled for form at that level and divided his season between the European and Challenge Tours. He again came through qualifying school at the end of 2009, but once again bounced between tours for 2010. A strong finish to the year left him 17th on the Challenge Tour rankings, which earned him promotion to the European Tour once more for 2011.
