Allan Hogg (born November 1, 1939) is an English-born Canadian former professional darts player who competed in the 1970s and 1980s. He was nicknamed Big Al. Career After winning the 1978 Canadian National Championship who will beat Hillyard Rossiter, Hogg reached the final of the 1979 Winmau World Masters. He defeated Tony Brown (darts player), Tony Brown, Tony Clark (darts player), Tony Clark and Barry Done before losing to Eric Bristow. In 1980. He was on the Unipart World Team Darts Matchplay with Tony Holyoake and Tony Foley to Canada. He then played in the 1980 BDO World Darts Championship, losing in the first round to Australian Alan Grant (darts player), Alan Grant. In the 1981 BDO World Darts Championship, Hogg defeated Les Capewell in the first round before losing to John Lowe (darts player), John Lowe in round two. Hogg quit the BDO in 1981. 1980 BDO World Darts Championship
The 1980 Embassy World Darts Championship was the third year that the British Darts Organisation had staged a world championship. Again the field was 24 players, with the top seeds receiving a bye to the last 16 stage. For the second successive year the tournament was staged at Jollees Cabaret Club in Stoke-on-Trent. Defending champion John Lowe, who had released a book ''The Lowe Profile'' just before the event suffered a surprise defeat 0–2 to Cliff Lazarenko saying afterwards "If you miss your doubles in this one, you must expect to go out." Eric Bristow was then immediately installed as favourite to win the event and would meet another flamboyant character of the game in the final – Bobby George. George, who was not invited to the qualifiers the previous year appeared in a sequined shirt and when arriving on the stage was presented with a candelabra to complete a Liberace effect. John Lowe (darts Player)
John Lowe (born 21 July 1945) is an English former professional darts player. Along with Eric Bristow and Jocky Wilson, he was known for dominating darts during the 1980s. Lowe was world champion on three occasions, in 1979, 1987 and 1993. He was also a two-time winner of the Winmau World Masters and a two-time World Cup singles champion. In total, Lowe won 15 BDO and WDF majors. He held the World No. 1 ranking on four occasions. In October 1984, he became the first player to hit a televised nine-dart finish. Lowe is one of only six players to have won the World Championship three or more times, and was the first person to win it in three separate decades; along with Phil Taylor, he remains one of only two players to achieve this. Alan Grant (born 21 April 1948) is an Australian former professional darts player who competed in events of the British Darts Organisation (BDO) in the 1970s and 1980s. Career Grant made his debut at the 1979 WDF World Cup, losing to John Wilkie from New Zealand. He won the 1979 New South Wales Darts Masters by beating Australia's Frank Palko. Grant won the 1980 Australian Grand Masters by beating Ray Cornibert from England. Grant played in the 1980 BDO World Darts Championship and defeated Canadian Allan Hogg in the first round 2–1. Anthony "Tony" Holyoake (born 28 January 1946 in Derby) is a former English–Canadian professional darts player who competed in the 1980s and 1990s. North York
North York is one of the six administrative districts of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
