Allan Hird Sr.
Allan Thomas Hird Sr. (11 August 1918 – 16 May 2007) was an Australian rules football player, coach and executive in the Victorian Football League (now AFL). VFL playing career Recruited from Williamstown, Hird joined the Hawthorn Football Club where he made his debut in 1938. He played 14 games for the club before moving to Essendon in 1940. It was at the Bombers he enjoyed his greatest success, playing 102 games from 1940 to 1945 as a pacy flanker, and being a part of the 1942 premiership team. VFL coaching career Hird later spent two years with the St Kilda Football Club as captain-coach, leaving at the end of 1947. After returning to Essendon, Hird was captain-coach of the Essendon Seconds (Reserves) team from 1948 to 1952 and non-playing coach from 1953 to 1954, before retiring from all forms of playing. Mal Pascoe
Malcolm Lawrence Pascoe (31 March 1933 – 24 August 2020) was an Australian rules footballer and coach. He played 94 senior Victorian Football League (VFL) games for the Essendon Football Club from 1953 to 1958, and played 177 senior Tasmanian Australian National Football League (TANFL) games for the Hobart Football Club from 1959 to 1966. Geoff Leek
Geoff Leek (18 February 1932 – 21 February 2008) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the VFL from 1951 to 1962. First senior match Recruited from the Preston Boys Club (he had been released by Collingwood to whom he was residentially bound), he played in Essendon's Thirds (under-19s), and played something like four seasons with the Seconds before becoming a regular seniors player in 1953. He was selected as a reserve for his first senior game for Essendon. It was against Richmond at Windy Hill on Saturday 7 July 1951. Essendon won by four points: 10.14 (74) to Richmond's 10.10 (70). Stan Booth
Stan Booth (3 December 1933 – 30 August 2007) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1950s. Booth was a rover and often rested on the half forward flank, contributing over a goal a game for Essendon. He spent most of the 1952 season in the reserves and was a member of their premiership team but also made five appearances in the seniors. From 1953 he was a regular in the Essendon side, kicking 32 goals in 1954 and playing in the 1957 Grand Final loss to Melbourne. Earlier in 1957, he was involved in some controversy when in a game against that year's premiers he was penalised for kicking the ball out of bounds deliberately, after a tackle from Ron Barassi. Kenneth John Reed (15 December 1931 - 19 July 2018) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Brian Gilmore (born 1 December 1929) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon and St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Gilmore was recruited from Koondrook, a town on the Victorian side of the Murray River. A follower, Gilmore started out in the seconds in 1949, then in 1950 broke into the seniors for the first time. Bill Snell
William Snell (23 March 1927 – 18 March 2009) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the VFL during the early 1950s. A centre half forward, Snell made his debut in Dick Reynolds's 300th game. He was a member of Essendon's 1950 premiership team and also played in the side which lost the decider the following season. Gregory George Sewell (born 30 June 1933) was an Australian rules footballer, assistant coach and president for Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was educated at University High School from 1950 to 1951, where he was a schoolmate of Allen Aylett. Albert Reeves Law (24 December 1929 – 17 May 1970) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
