All Or Nothin' (Nikki Lane Album)
All or Nothin' is the second studio album by American outlaw country singer Nikki Lane. It was released on May 6, 2014 on New West Records. Background and recording Lane recorded the album with producer Dan Auerbach, the frontman of the Black Keys, at his studio "Easy Eye Sound" in Nashville. Auerbach and Lane perform together on the album, in the duet "Love's on Fire". Lane co-wrote all 12 of the album's tracks and producer Auerbach co-wrote 5. Critical reception According to Metacritic, ''All or Nothin'' has a score of 79 out of 100, indicating generally favorable reviews from critics. Thom Jurek reviewed the album for ''AllMusic'' and gave it 3.5 stars out of 5, writing that "Lane's songs and delivery are strong throughout All or Nothin" and that on the album, "her vocals and arrangements co-exist to wed past to present both simultaneously and effortlessly." Nikki Lane
Nikki Lane (born October 17, 1983) is an American country music singer-songwriter and artist. She has released four albums: ''Walk of Shame'', ''All or Nothin' (Nikki Lane album), All or Nothin''', ''Highway Queen, and Denim & Diamonds''. Early life and education Lane was born in Greenville, South Carolina, and dropped out of high school there. She then worked as a fashion designer for a time, before moving to Los Angeles in 2006 and later to New York City. After doing so, she broke up with a country musician, who left her to record an album in Alabama; this experience inspired her to begin writing country music songs. Lane, who now lives in Nashville, also owns and operates a clothing store called "High Class Hillbilly". Kenny Vaughan
Kenneth Vaughan is an American guitarist. He is best known as a long-time member of Marty Stuart’s supporting band, The Fabulous Superlatives. Career Early life Vaughan was born in Oklahoma, but raised in Denver, Colorado. His guitar instructor was Bill Frisell. In the late 1960s, Vaughan played in a number of rock bands in the Littleton area (where he lived), including a progressive rock group called Amos. Soon after, Vaughan joined a local progressive jazz band, then began playing country music in local bars. Vaughan was a member of Colorado punk band Jonny III in the late 1970s and early 80s. The McCrary Sisters are an American gospel music quartet from Nashville, Tennessee, formed in 2010 by sisters Ann McCrary, Deborah McCrary, Regina McCrary, and Alfreda McCrary.
