All Through The Night (Tone Lōc Song)
"All Through the Night" is a single by Tone Lōc and El DeBarge from Tone Lōc's second album, ''Cool Hand Lōc''. Following the huge success of ''Lōc-ed After Dark'' and two of its three singles (" Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina"), Tone Lōc released his sophomore album ''Cool Hand Lōc''. "All Through the Night", featuring R&B star El DeBarge, was released in advance of its album on October 29, 1991. "All Through the Night" found moderate success, reaching #80 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and #16 on the Rap Songs chart. However, compared to his previous singles, "All Through the Night" failed to live up to expectations. Despite its poor performance in radio and sales, the music video received heavy airplay on MTV and BET. It is his last single to chart. Tone Lōc
Anthony Terrell Smith (born March 3, 1966), better known by his stage name Tone Lōc (), is an American rapper, actor, and producer. He is known for his raspy voice, his hit songs " Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina", for which he was nominated for a Grammy Award, and for being featured in "We're All in the Same Gang", a collaborative single by the West Coast Rap All-Stars. Early life Anthony Terrell Smith was born March 3, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Margaret, who managed a retirement home, and James Smith. His father died in 1972, and Tony and his three older brothers were raised by his mother. He was educated at the Hollywood Professional School. As a teenager he performed with the Triple A rap group. Centered around songwriters/multi-instrumentalists Simon Bartholomew and Andrew Levy, the core members of the group since its founding, Brand New Heavies are best known for a string of successful singles in the early 1990s featuring N'Dea Davenport as lead vocalist. Contemporary R&B (or simply R&B) is a popular music genre that combines rhythm and blues with elements of pop, soul, funk, hip hop, and electronic music. Eldra Patrick "El" DeBarge (born June 4, 1961) is an American singer, songwriter and musician. He was the focal point and primary lead singer of the family group DeBarge. Popular songs led by El DeBarge include "Time Will Reveal", "Who's Holding Donna Now", " Stay with Me", " All This Love", and " Rhythm of the Night". "Funky Cold Medina" is a hip hop song written by Young MC, Matt Dike and Michael Ross, and first performed by American rapper, actor and producer Tone Lōc. It was the second single from Lōc's debut album, ''Lōc-ed After Dark'' (1989). The single was released on March 18, 1989, and rose to number three on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 the following month where it went platinum, selling over one million copies and becoming the second ever platinum-certified rap single (after '' Wild Thing'' from the same album being the first). "Wild Thing" is a single by American rapper Tone Lōc from his 1989 album ''Lōc-ed After Dark''. The title is a reference to the phrase "doin' the wild thing," a euphemism for sex. According to producer Mario Caldato Jr., who engineered and mixed the song, producer Michael Ross was inspired by an utterance of Fab 5 Freddy “Come on baby let’s do the wild thing" in Spike Lee's ''She's Gotta Have It'', and asked Young MC to write the lyrics. Tone Lōc's song peaked at number two on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in February 1989, only behind Paula Abdul's breakthrough hit " Straight Up".
