All American Quarter Horse Congress
The All American Quarter Horse Congress (AAQHC) is known as the largest single breed horse show in the world. The annual event is held at the 360 acre Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio, and is hosted by the Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA). The AAQHC has multiple events in a variety of disciplines. Points and cash awards earned by individual exhibitors who are members of the AQHA, the NRHA, and/or the NSBA also count toward accumulative totals for year-end awards and recognition in the respective associations to which exhibitors are members. History The idea for a Quarter Horse-only competition event in Ohio was proposed at an Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA) meeting in 1966 by horse breeder Blair Folck, and promoted by Folck and OQHA president Pete Drake. Ohio Expo Center Coliseum
The Taft Coliseum is a 5,003-permanent seat multi-purpose arena located at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio. History It opened in 1918 and is nicknamed "The Barn". The facility hosted the 1929 NCAA Wrestling Championships. The Coliseum has become a legendary and traditional high school basketball venue. The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), based in Amarillo, Texas, is an international organization dedicated to the preservation, improvement and record-keeping of the American Quarter Horse. The association sanctions many competitive events and maintains the official registry. National Reining Horse Association
The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote the reining horse. History and mission The NRHA was founded in 1966 in Coshocton, Ohio, and later moved its headquarters to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The NRHA approves shows for all list of horse breeds, breeds of horses, and for all levels of equestrianism, riders from beginning amateurs to professional trainers. The National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) is an equestrian organization in the United States that began by promoting and staging Western Pleasure events in 1983.
