All-Ireland Kick Fada Championship
The All-Ireland Kick Fada Championship is an annual tournament testing the skills of Ireland's best Gaelic footballers. ''Fada'' is Irish for "long". Until 2012 the ''Kick Fada'' was sponsored by MBNA while the DAA will sponsor the event in 2013. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. A goal is awarded for kicking the ball under the crossbar into the net (the ball cannot be hand-passed into the goal), signalled by the umpire raising a green flag. The Armagh County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae Ard Mhacha) or Armagh GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Mickey Whelan
Mickey Whelan is former selector on the senior Dublin county team, he was a selector for Pat Gilroy who played for him while he managed St Vincent's. He is a former player and manager of Dublin and St Vincent's senior football teams. He is a former player for Clanna Gael and won a Dublin Senior Football Championship medal with them in 1968. Playing career Whelan won a Cú Chulainn award for his performances with the Dublin senior football team in 1963. He was on the All-Ireland winning side for Dublin in 1963. He has won four Leinster Senior Football Championship medals with Dublin in 1959, 1962, 1963 and 1965. Whelan had a very successful playing career with his clubs, he first won the Dublin Senior Football Championship with Clanna Gael in 1968. An Tóchar () is a Gaelic football and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Roundwood, County Wicklow, Republic of Ireland. History ''Tóchar'' GAA club was founded on 8 August 1885 by Laurence Murphy of Togher House. Their first game was in March 1886 against Ashford. In 1886 they took part in a tournament at Avondale House, where six Wicklow teams played six Wexford teams; Tochar defeated Rosslare 0-4 to 0-0. The club declined and was replaced by a new team named ''Roundwood'', who won the Wicklow Senior Football Championship in 1933. Later a club called ''Ballinastoe'' was dominant in the area; the two teams merged to form ''Ballinastoe/Roundwood'', reviving the ancient name ''An Tóchar'' in 1981. Wolfe Tones GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club which comprises an amalgamation of the parishes of Oristown and Kilberry which are situated roughly halfway between the town of Navan and the town of Kells, in County Meath, Ireland. Ballyteague GFC is a Gaelic football club in Kilmeage, County Kildare, Republic of Ireland, club of the year in 1980, winners of junior, and intermediate in successive years 1972-1973 and senior finalists in 1974.
