An Tóchar () is a Gaelic football and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Roundwood, County Wicklow, Republic of Ireland. History ''Tóchar'' GAA club was founded on 8 August 1885 by Laurence Murphy of Togher House. Their first game was in March 1886 against Ashford. In 1886 they took part in a tournament at Avondale House, where six Wicklow teams played six Wexford teams; Tochar defeated Rosslare 0-4 to 0-0. The club declined and was replaced by a new team named ''Roundwood'', who won the Wicklow Senior Football Championship in 1933. Later a club called ''Ballinastoe'' was dominant in the area; the two teams merged to form ''Ballinastoe/Roundwood'', reviving the ancient name ''An Tóchar'' in 1981. In 1995, An Tóchar won the Wicklow Senior Football Championship and advanced to the final of the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship, losing to Éire Óg, Carlow after a replay. Roundwood
Roundwood, historically known as Tóchar ( ga, an Tóchar , meaning 'the causeway'), is a village in County Wicklow, Ireland. It was listed as having a population of 948 in the 2016 census. Geography Roundwood is located where the R755 road joins the R764 and R765. The R755 is part of the main route from Dublin to Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains. At 238 metres above sea level, Roundwood is one of the highest villages in Ireland. Vartry Reservoir Lakes (reservoirs built in the 1860s) are close by. History Roundwood has a close association with two former Presidents of Ireland, Seán T. Leinster Ladies' Senior Club Football Championship
The Leinster Ladies' senior football club championship has been running since 1978. The trophy is named after the man who presented it, Bill Daly, a Cavanman who lived in Dublin and was involved with Ballyboden St Endas. Kilmacud Crokes are the current holders having secured their first ever title in November 2022 and represented Leinster in the All Ireland series. Foxrock-Cabinteely are the only club to win six consecutive Leinster senior titles. Laois are the most successful county, having won it on 14 occasions. In total, six of the 12 Leinster counties have won the cup at least once - Laois, Dublin, Westmeath, Wexford, Offaly and Meath. Mike Hassett (born in Killorglin, County Kerry) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local club Laune Rangers and was a member of the Kerry senior inter-county team from 1994 until 2001.Father Micheal Hassett and mother Bridie Hassett also have another Kerry player in the family Club At club level he had much success with Laune Rangers. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Leinster Senior Club Football Championship
The Leinster Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played on a knockout basis between the senior club championship winners of the competing counties in Leinster. The current holders of the Leinster title are Ballyboden St. Enda's from Dublin. Offaly side Gracefield were the first winners of the Leinster senior club football championship in the 1970–71 season. The most successful clubs are St. Vincent's from Dublin and Portlaoise from Laois, who have won the Leinster championship on seven occasions. Carlow club Éire Óg won 5 championships in 7 years in the 1990s. Dublin clubs have won the Leinster championship twenty one times, which is more than double any other county.
