Alistair Harkness
Alistair Ross Harkness (born 7 August 1974, Melbourne) is a former Australian politician and member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly for the Labor Party. Early life Dr Harkness grew up in Frankston, Victoria, where he attended Frankston Heights Primary School. After completing high school at Mentone Grammar School, he was accepted to study at Monash University. In 1996, he graduated with a Bachelor of Business and a Bachelor of Arts, and received first class honours the following year. He went on to complete a PhD in political science, which he was awarded in 2005. His research on Victorian state politics and policy has been widely published. Prior to entering Parliament, his career included working for Steve Bracks in his first term as Premier, as a lecturing associate at Monash University teaching in Australian politics, policy making and police studies, and on the galvanizing and paint lines at BHP Westernport. Melbourne ( ; Boonwurrung/Woiwurrung: ''Narrm'' or ''Naarm'') is the capital and most populous city of the Australian state of Victoria, and the second-most populous city in both Australia and Oceania. 2010 Victorian State Election
The 2010 Victorian state election, held on Saturday, 27 November 2010, was for the 57th Parliament of Victoria. The election was to elect all 88 members of the Legislative Assembly and all 40 members of the Legislative Council. The incumbent centre-left Labor Party government, led by John Brumby, was defeated by the centre-right Liberal/National Coalition opposition, led by Ted Baillieu. The election gave the Coalition a one-seat majority in both houses of parliament. Voting is compulsory in Victoria. Elections for the Legislative Assembly use instant-runoff voting (called preferential voting in Australia) in single-member electorates (called districts). Geoff Shaw (politician)
Geoffrey Page Shaw (born 12 October 1967) is an Australian politician who represented Frankston in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 2010 to 2014, initially as a member of the Parliamentary Liberal Party until 6 March 2013, and then subsequently as an independent politician. On 17 March 2014 Shaw resigned as a member of the Liberal Party in advance of moves to expel him as a member of the party. Charges were brought against Shaw in September 2013, were withdrawn by prosecutors on 3 December, and referred to the Legislative Assembly's Privileges Committee. Andrea McCall
Andrea Lea McCall (born 16 March 1952) is a former Australian politician. She was the Liberal member for Frankston in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 2002. McCall was born in Yorkshire, England, and was educated at Harrogate. She received a Bachelor of Arts from the Universite de Lyon in 1972, and a Business Diploma from the French Institute in London in 1973. In 1976 she received a Graduate Diploma from London Polytec. She worked as a marketing advisor from 1977 to 1981, and in 1983 moved to Australia, where she became a personnel consultant; in that year she also joined the Liberal Party. From 1984 to 1990 she was proprietor of the McCall Group, and from 1990 to 1995 was a lecturer at VUT in Footscray.
