Alfredo Massana
Alfredo Massana Urgellés (27 July 1891 - 24 March 1924), was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder for Espanyol and FC Barcelona. He had a great placement and vision of the game. Known as a great dribbler, he was one of the best Catalan midfielders of his time. His brother, Santiago Massana, also played for Espanyol and Barcelona. He is also the grandfather of the pianist Tete Montoliu. Club career Born in Barcelona, he began his career in 1907 at his hometown club X Sporting Club, where he played alongside the likes of Pedro Gibert, and helped the club win back-to-back Catalan Championships in 1906–07 and 1907–08. In 1909, the club was effectively relaunched as the Club Deportivo Español, the name which still stands today. Francisco Bru
Francisco Bru Sanz (12 April 1885 – 10 June 1962), also known as Paco Bru, was a Spanish football player, referee and manager. As a footballer he played as a striker and midfielder for FC Internacional and as a defender for FC Barcelona, RCD Español and the Catalan XI. After retiring as a player, Bru became a referee and took charge of the 1916 and 1917 Copa del Rey finals. He later became the first ever manager of Spain, guiding them to the silver medal at the 1920 Olympic Games. As a manager with Real Madrid, then known as ''Madrid CF'', he won the Copa de España twice during the 1930s. 1913 Pyrenees Cup
The 1913 Pyrenees Cup was the 4th tournament of the Pyrenees Cup, one of the first international football club competitions. The competition was held on the road between 2 March and 8 June, and it was won by FC Barcelona after easily disposing of La Comète et Simiot 7–2 in the final at Camp de la Indústria. Pyrenees Cup
The Pyrenees Cup (), officially Challenge International du Sud de la France, was an international football competition contested by Spanish and French clubs based in the territories of Pyrénées (Catalonia, the Basque Country, Languedoc, Midi-Pyrénées and Aquitaine). There have been five tournaments for the Pyrenees Cup which were held between 1910 and 1914 with the final of the championship being held in the region's capital, Toulouse. However, the last two finals were held in Barcelona. The competition was played for 5 years, from 1910 to 1914, before disappearing due to the first World War. The tournament stopped due to the beginning of World War I in 1914. Real Sociedad Gimnástica Española
Real Sociedad Gimnástica Española (RSGE), also known as Gimnástica de Madrid, was a sports club based in Madrid, Spain. It was officially founded as an amateur sports, amateur gymnastics club on 2 March 1887 by Narciso Masferrer under the name "Sociedad Gimnástica Española". The club's association football, football section started activities in 1907, winning four Campeonato Regional Centro, Centro Championships (1910, 1911, 1912, 1914). 1913 Copa Del Rey
The 1913 Copa del Rey comprised two different competitions held the same year. Due to disagreements between the Royal Spanish Football Federation ( es, Real Federación Española de Fútbol, RFEF) and some clubs, in 1913 two parallel competitions were held: an "official", organized by the FEF (Federación Española de Fútbol), in Madrid and an "unofficial", organized by the UECF (Unión Española de Clubes de Fútbol), in Barcelona. 1912 Copa Del Rey
The Copa del Rey 1912 was the eleventh staging of the Copa del Rey, the Spanish football cup competition. The competition started on 31 March 1912, and concluded on 12 April 1912, with the final, held at the Industria Stadium in Barcelona, in which FC Barcelona lifted the trophy for the second time ever after a 2–0 victory over Sociedad Gimnástica thanks to goals from Alfredo Massana, Pepe Rodríguez. Six teams were planned to take place in the tournament, but Athletic de Bilbao and Academia de Infantería withdrew just before the start of the tournament. The Campeonato de España–Copa de Su Majestad el Rey, commonly known as Copa del Rey or simply La Copa and formerly known as Copa del Presidente de la República (1932–36) and Copa del Generalísimo (1939–76), is an annual knockout football competition in Spanish football, organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. José Rodríguez (footballer, Born 1889)
José Rodríguez Vázquez (20 August 1889 - 1972), also known as Pepe Rodríguez, was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward for FC Barcelona. In his first season at Barcelona (1909–10), Pepe won all the titles at stake: The Catalan championship, Copa del Rey and Pyrenees Cup, and he was fundamental in Barça's triumphs as he netted the winning goal in both cup finals. Pepe scored in both cup finals in 1912 as well. In 1912, he was part of the first-ever team fielded by the Catalan national team in an international match recognized by FIFA. Club career Born in Vigo, he began his career in 1907 at his hometown club Vigo FC, and in his first (and only) season with them he played a pivotal role in the club's greatest achievement, reaching the 1908 Copa del Rey Final, where they were beaten 1-2 by Madrid FC.
