Aleš Pipan
Aleš Pipan (born 24 May 1959) is a Slovenian basketball coach and former basketball player, who is currently coach of KK Šentjur, Šentjur in the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League, Liga Nova KBM. Coaching career Pipan coached Slovenia at the EuroBasket 2005, 2006 FIBA World Championship and EuroBasket 2007 until resignation in 2008, when Slovenia didn't make through additional qualifications for 2008 Summer Olympics. Before that, he was present in Slovenian national team as coach assistant since 1998. Pipan came to KK Zlatorog Laško, Zlatorog Laško in 1996 and established the club as one of Slovenian best, especially known as one that works very well with young players. He led the club to the Saporta Cup in 1997 and 1998. In 1999 he took them to the quarterfinals where they lost to Aris F.C. Premier A Slovenian Basketball League
The Premier A Slovenian Basketball League ( sl, 1. slovenska košarkarska liga), abbreviated as 1. SKL and known as the Liga Nova KBM due to sponsorship reasons, is the top-level professional men's basketball league in Slovenia. The league, operated by the Basketball Federation of Slovenia, consists of eleven clubs. The most successful team is Cedevita Olimpija with 19 titles. History The league was founded in 1991, shortly after Slovenia's independence from SFR Yugoslavia. Before the independence, the Slovenian Republic League was played as a second or third level of Yugoslav basketball. Olimpija, Ljubljana, Slovan, ŽKK Maribor, Lesonit, and Branik Maribor were the only Slovenian teams that played in the Yugoslav First Federal League.
