Aleš Pipan
Aleš Pipan (born 24 May 1959) is a Slovenian basketball coach and former basketball player, who is currently coach of KK Šentjur, Šentjur in the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League, Liga Nova KBM. Coaching career Pipan coached Slovenia at the EuroBasket 2005, 2006 FIBA World Championship and EuroBasket 2007 until resignation in 2008, when Slovenia didn't make through additional qualifications for 2008 Summer Olympics. Before that, he was present in Slovenian national team as coach assistant since 1998. Pipan came to KK Zlatorog Laško, Zlatorog Laško in 1996 and established the club as one of Slovenian best, especially known as one that works very well with young players. He led the club to the Saporta Cup in 1997 and 1998. In 1999 he took them to the quarterfinals where they lost to Aris F.C. Premier A Slovenian Basketball League
The Premier A Slovenian Basketball League ( sl, 1. slovenska košarkarska liga), abbreviated as 1. SKL and known as the Liga Nova KBM due to sponsorship reasons, is the top-level professional men's basketball league in Slovenia. The league, operated by the Basketball Federation of Slovenia, consists of eleven clubs. The most successful team is Cedevita Olimpija with 19 titles. History The league was founded in 1991, shortly after Slovenia's independence from SFR Yugoslavia. The Polish Basketball Cup ( pl, Puchar Polski w koszykówce mężczyzn) is the annual top-tier level national domestic basketball cup competition for clubs in Poland. It is managed and organised by the Polish Basketball League (PLK). The competition was founded in 1933. Śląsk Wrocław has won the most titles, with 14 trophies. History The creation of the tournament was initiated in 1933, by the Polish Association of Sports Games (PZGS), an organisation which carried out the organisation of national sports competitions in Poland. The FIBA Saporta Cup was the name of the second-tier level European-wide professional club basketball competition, where the domestic National Cup winners, from all over Europe, played against each other. The 2007 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2007, was the 35th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe, which also served as Europe qualifier for the 2008 Summer Olympics, giving a berth to the champion and runner-up teams (or to the third-placed team in case Spain should reach the final). 2006 FIBA World Championship
The 2006 FIBA World Championship was the 15th FIBA World Championship, the international basketball world championship for men's national teams. The tournament was hosted by Japan and held from 19 August to 3 September 2006. It was co-organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), Japan Basketball Association (JABBA) and the 2006 Organising Committee. For the first time since 1986, the World Championship was contested by 24 nations, eight more than in 2002. The Yugoslavia men's national under-18 basketball team ( sh, Juniorska košarkaška reprezentacija Jugoslavije) was the boys' basketball team, administered by Basketball Federation of Yugoslavia, that represented SFR Yugoslavia in international under-18 (under age 18) men's basketball competitions, consisted mainly of the European Championship for Juniors, nowadays known as the FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship.
