Alexey Zhukanenko
Alexey Yurevich Zhukanenko (russian: Алексей Юрьевич Жуканенко, born May 18, 1986) is a Kazakhstani-born naturalised-Russian professional basketball player for Pieno žvaigždės of the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga. A center, he has played for a number of Russian clubs in the past, whilst also being an occasional member of the Russian national team. Professional career Zhukanenko moved from Almaty (where he played for the youth side of Otrar) to Kazan aged 16 in order to join UNICS Kazan. He played for UNICS Kazan-2, the reserve team, from 2002 to 2005. After one game for the senior side in the 2004–05 FIBA Europe League, he was permanently transferred the next season to play in the Russian Basketball Super League. With UNICS he would reach the 2006–07 ULEB Cup semifinals and win the 2009 Russian Cup. He moved to Dynamo Moscow in the summer of 2009. Center (basketball)
The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. They traditionally play close to the basket in the low post. Centers are valued for their ability to protect their own goal from high-percentage close attempts on defense, while scoring and rebounding with high efficiency on offense. 2010 FIBA World Championship
The 2010 FIBA World Championship was the 16th FIBA World Championship, the international basketball world championship contested by the men's national teams. The tournament ran from 28 August to 12 September 2010. It was co-organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), Turkish Basketball Federation and the 2010 Organising Committee. It was considered as prestigious a competition as the Olympic Basketball Tournament. The tournament was hosted by Turkey. For the third time (after the 1986 and 2006 tournaments), the World Championship had 24 competing nations. As a result, the group stage games were played in four cities, and the knockout round was hosted by Istanbul. VTB United League
VTB United League (russian: Единая Лига ВТБ) is an international professional men's club basketball list of basketball leagues, league that was founded in 2008. It is made up of mostly Russian clubs, along with one each from Belarus and Kazakhstan. Since VTB United League 2013–14, 2013, it is the Russian basketball league system, first tier of Russian professional club basketball. Therefore, the highest placed Russian team in the league is also named list of Russian basketball champions, Russian national champions. The league is sponsored by Russian state-owned VTB Bank. EuroChallenge
FIBA EuroChallenge (called the FIBA Europe League in 2003–05, and FIBA EuroCup in 2005–08) was the 3rd-tier level transnational men's professional continental club basketball competition in Europe, from 2003 to 2015. It was organized and run by FIBA Europe. It is not to be confused with the FIBA EuroCup Challenge – the now defunct 4th-tier level transnational men's professional continental club basketball competition in Europe, which was also organized and run by FIBA Europe, and played during the 2002–03 to 2006–07 seasons. 2006–07 ULEB Cup
The 2006–07 ULEB Cup was the fifth season of the second-tier level European professional club basketball competition, the EuroCup. The second-tier level EuroCup is the European-wide league level that is one tier below the EuroLeague level. It featured 24 basketball clubs, from 15 countries.
