Alexandre Blaszyck
Alexandre Blaszyck (born 8 January 1988) is a French épée fencer, team bronze medallist at the 2013 World Fencing Championships. Career Blaszyck discovered fencing at school and took up the sport at his local club, VGA Saint-Maur, with maestro Hervé Faget, then Siegfried Robin and Stéphane Riboud. After a silver medal in the French national championships for his age group he was selected into the national training programme for promising young athletes ("Pôle Espoirs") in Reims. A year after, in 2006, he earned a bronze medal at the Junior European Championships in PoznaÅ„. He won in 2007 the Junior World Championships in Belek as well as the Junior World Cup series. This result had him selected into INSEP, a state-sponsored institution for high-performance athletes. Épée (fencing)
The ( or , ), sometimes spelled epee in English, is the largest and heaviest of the three weapons used in the sport of fencing. The modern derives from the 19th-century , a weapon which itself derives from the French small sword. This contains a detailed contempraneous description of the history and form of the sport. As a thrusting weapon, the is similar to a foil (contrasted with a sabre, which is designed for slashing). It has a stiffer blade than a foil. The FIE Fencing World Cup is an international fencing competition held by the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime. In each weapon (Men's and Women's Épée, Sabre and Foil), three Grand Prix, five World Cup events and several satellite events are contested each season. Universiade Medalists In Fencing
The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. In July 2020 as part of a new branding system by the FISU, it was stated that the Universiade will be officially branded as the FISU World University Games. Gábor Boczkó (born 1 April 1977) is a Hungarian fencer, who won a silver medal in the team Épée competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens together with Krisztián Kulcsár, Géza Imre and Iván Kovács. Boczkó took up fencing after his father took him to a competition in Tapolca. His first coach was Kinga Borosné Eitner. 2014–15 Fencing World Cup
The 44th FIE Fencing World Cup began in October 2014 and concluded in July 2015 at the 2015 World Fencing Championships held in Moscow. Season overview This edition was the first to feature the new Grand Prix format, consisting in nine events, three in each weapon, men and women fencing together. World Cup and Grand Prix competitions were spread over ten months instead of six. The calendar overhaul was designed to allow more time for the athletes to train and rest as well as to increase media visibility. The season saw the opening of the qualifying path for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The first competition counting for Olympic qualification was held on the 2 and 3 May for all three weapons, an event dubbed as the "super weekend" in Italy. Hugues Obry
Hugues Obry (born 19 May 1973) is a retired French fencer and current coach. He won a gold medal in team épée at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, together with Érik Boisse, Fabrice Jeannet and Jérôme Jeannet. He won two silver medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Following his victory at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was made a ''chevalier of the Légion d'honneur''. Obry became assistant coach of the French men's épée team in 2008, and head coach from 2012 to 2016.
