Alex Sandro da Silva or simply Alex Silva (born 10 March 1985) is a Brazilian former professional association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football)#Centre-back, central defender. Club career Alex Silva was born in Amparo, São Paulo, Amparo, São Paulo (state), São Paulo. On 23 January 2010, Alex Silva returned to São Paulo FC, São Paulo on loan from Hamburger SV until July 2011. Alex Silva retired in June 2019, aged 34. International career Uncapped Alex Silva was chosen for the 2007 Copa América in Venezuela, for which Dunga rested several established players. Amparo, São Paulo
Amparo is a Brazilian Municipalities of Brazil, municipality in the state of São Paulo (state), São Paulo. The population is of 72,677 (2020 est.) in an area of 445 km². The city is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Amparo. The city is part of the "Water-Circuit", a cluster of towns in São Paulo state which are famous for natural fountains and water wells. One of the main events in the city is the Winter Festival, when some stages are set over the main plaza and presentations are scheduled for the whole month of July. The Brazil Olympic football team (also known as Brazil under-23, Brazil U23) represents Brazil in international football competitions during Olympic Games and Pan American Games. The selection is limited to players under the age of 23, except three overage players. The team is controlled by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). Carlos Caetano Bledorn Verri (born 31 October 1963), known as Dunga (), is a Brazilian football manager and former professional player who played as a defensive midfielder. The men's football tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held in Beijing and four other cities in the People's Republic of China from 7 to 23 August. Associations affiliated with FIFA were invited to enter their men's under-23 teams in regional qualifying competitions, from which 15 teams, plus the host nation, reached the final tournament. Men's teams were allowed to augment their squads with up to three players over the age of 23. For these Games, the men competed in a 16-team tournament. Preliminary matches commenced on 7 August, the day before the Games' opening ceremony. The teams were grouped into four pools of four teams each for a round-robin preliminary round.
