Alex Hesegem
Alex Hesegem (14 July 195720 June 2021) was an Indonesian politician. He was a member of parliament from 2001 until 2004 and the Vice Governor of Papua from 2006 until 2011. Early life Alex Hesegem was born on 14 July 1957 in Wamena, the capital of present-day Jayawijaya Regency. When he was born, his parents handed him over to Arnold Sawaki, an evangelist who was conducting a mission in Kurima, a small village in the Yahukimo Regency. Several years later, he was adopted by , a Protestant prelate who was visiting Kurima. Mamoribo then brought him to Jayapura and enrolled him at an elementary school owned by the Paulus Christian Education Foundation. While he was in elementary school, his stepfather was elected as the Speaker of the Irian Jaya (now Papua) Regional People's Representative Council in 1971. A Christian mission is an organized effort for the propagation of the Christian faith. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle ( id, Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan, PDI-P) is an Indonesian political party, and the party of the current President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. The PDI-P was founded and is currently led by Megawati Sukarnoputri, president of Indonesia from 2001 to 2004, and daughter of Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia. Lukas Enembe (born 27 July 1967) is an Indonesian politician who serves as Governor of Papua Province since April 2013. He had previously served as Regent of Puncak Jaya Regency between 2007 and 2012, and Vice Regent of the same regency from 2001 until 2006. In September 2017, Enembe was called on by the Corruption Eradication Commission as a suspect in a graft case; supporters of Enembe protested at the National Human Rights Commission, claiming that the issue was politicized due to the 2018 gubernatorial election in Papua. The Commission later named Enembe as a witness in a graft case involving misappropriation of scholarship funds in Papua, and Enembe met with the Commission face-to-face to clarify his wealth report. 1997 Indonesian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Indonesia on 29 May 1997. There were three simultaneous elections in one because voters were electing members of two levels of regional government (provincial and regency levels) as well as the national-level People's Representative Council. This was to be the last election of President Suharto's New Order regime, which collapsed a year later. Like the preceding New Order elections, it was won outright by the Golkar organization.
