Alex Avery Garza (born February 13, 1994) is a Democratic member of the Michigan House of Representatives. Garza had political experience before his current term as State Representative. Rashida Harbi Tlaib (, ; born July 24, 1976) is an American politician and lawyer serving as the U.S. representative for since 2019. The district includes the western half of Detroit, along with several of its western suburbs and much of the Downriver area. A member of the Democratic Party, Tlaib represented the 6th and 12th districts of the Michigan House of Representatives before her election to Congress. In 2018, Tlaib won the Democratic nomination for the United States House of Representatives seat from Michigan's 13th congressional district. Stephanie Gray Chang is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Michigan Senate, representing the 1st district. She previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives in the 6th District, in the Michigan House of Representatives after being elected in November 2014. The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2010 U.S. Census. Its composition, powers and duties are established in Article IV of the Michigan Constitution. Members are elected in even-numbered years and take office at 12 p.m. (EST) on January 1 following the November general election.
