Alex Drobnitch
Alex Lewis Drobnitch (November 25, 1913 – June 6, 1960) was an American football player. Drobntich was raised on a farm near Eaton, Colorado. He played college football for the Denver Pioneers football team and was selected by the Newspaper Enterprise Association as a first-team guard on the 1936 College Football All-America Team. He later played professional football for the New York Yanks in 1937, the Buffalo Indians in 1940, and the New York Americans The New York Americans, colloquially known as the Amerks, were a professional ice hockey team based in New York City from 1925 to 1942. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. New York Americans (1940 AFL) Players
The New York Americans, colloquially known as the Amerks, were a professional ice hockey team based in New York City from 1925 to 1942. They were the third expansion team in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the second to play in the United States. The team never won the Stanley Cup, but reached the semifinals twice. While it was the first team in New York City, it was eclipsed by the second, the New York Rangers, which arrived in 1926 under the ownership of the Amerks' landlord, Madison Square Garden (1925), Madison Square Garden. The team operated as the Brooklyn Americans during the 1941–42 NHL season, 1941–42 season before suspending operations in 1942 due to World War II and long-standing financial difficulties.
