Alexander Max Band (born June 8, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer and actor. He is best known for being the vocalist of Los Angeles rock band the Calling, having performed on their hit song "Wherever You Will Go", which topped the Adult Top 40 for 23 weeks, making it the second-longest-running number 1 in the chart's history and later named the number 1 song of the decade of the 2000s on the Adult Pop Charts by ''Billboard'' magazine. Along with friend and fellow songwriter Aaron Kamin, lead guitarist of The Calling, they achieved success with the release of two studio albums; their debut album, ''Camino Palmero'', sold over 5 million copies worldwide and was certified Gold by RIAA, and their second album, ''Two'', sold over 1.5 million copies, achieving hits across the world with the singles "Our Lives", and " Things Will Go My Way". Carlos Humberto Santana Barragán (; born July 20, 1947) is an American guitarist who rose to fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band Santana, which pioneered a fusion of Rock and roll and Latin American jazz. "Why Don't You & I" is a song by American rock band Santana. The song was written by Chad Kroeger and recorded for Santana's 2002 album ''Shaman'', on the Arista record label. It was re-recorded in 2003 with vocals by Alex Band of the Calling and released as the third single in the United States on June 16, 2003. Both versions of the single charted in the US while the Alex Band version peaked at number 21 in New Zealand. According to Kroeger when recording for his version of the song, he recorded his vocals while on tour with Nickelback and used panty hose as a pop filter when recording it. ''Two'' (stylized as ''II'') is the second studio album by American alternative rock band the Calling, released on June 8, 2004 (vocalist Alex Band's 23rd birthday) through RCA Records. The record only features original members Band and guitarist Aaron Kamin along with a variety of session musicians. The album deals with romantic love and relationships. Despite radio-friendly singles and relentless touring by the band, the album was viewed by many as under-promoted by the label and a commercial disappointment compared to the success of their first album. The Calling is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1996 by lead singer and guitarist Alex Band and guitarist Aaron Kamin. The current, official lineup of the band (as of 2020) consists of Band, Daniel Thomson, Travis Loafman & Joey Clement.
