Alek Bédard
Alek Bédard (born December 12, 1996) is a Canadian curler from Lacolle, Quebec. He currently skips his own team out of Montreal, Quebec. Career Bédard won his first Quebec Junior Curling Championship in 2018, skipping his team of Louis Quevillon, Émile Asselin and Bradley Lequin. This qualified them for the 2018 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, held January 13–21 in Shawinigan, Quebec. At the championship, Bédard led his team to a 4–2 round robin record, which was enough to qualify them for the championship pool. They then lost three of their four games, finishing the tournament in seventh place with a 5–5 record. Team Bédard aged out of juniors the following season and began competing on the World Curling Tour. Lacolle, Quebec
Lacolle () is a municipality in southern Quebec, Canada, located in the administrative area of the Montérégie, on the Canada–United States border. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 2,680. The Lacolle River runs eastward through the middle of the town and empties in Richelieu River. More people cross the border illegally from the United States there than at any other point. Almost nineteen thousand people were detained in 2017. The nearest town across the border is Champlain, New York. History The written history of Lacolle can be traced back to July 4, 1609, when Samuel de Champlain and his entourage stopped briefly at the mouth of a small stream for a meal before continuing southward up the Richelieu River into the lake which now bears his name. 2020 Quebec Tankard
The 2020 Quebec Tankard the Quebec men's provincial curling championship was held from January 19 to 26 at the Arèna de Salaberry in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec. The winning Alek Bédard rink represented Quebec at the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier in Kingston, Ontario and finished with a 1–6 record. The event was held in conjunction with the 2020 Quebec Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Quebec's provincial women's curling championship. It is the third time in the last 11 years that Salaberry-de-Valleyfield played host to the provincial championships. Quebec Tankard
The Hardline Quebec Tankard (French: ''Tankard Hardline''), formerly the Quebec Men's Provincial Curling Championship is the Quebec provincial championship for men's curling. The tournament is run by Curling Québec, the provincial curling association. The winner represents Team Quebec at the Tim Hortons Brier. The provincial champion receives the McIntyre Trophy. A separate team represented Montreal until 1931. Qualifying 16 teams play in the Quebec provincial. Jean-Sébastien Roy
Jean-Sébastien Roy (born August 14, 1977) is a Canadian curler from Gatineau, Quebec. Career Roy is a two time provincial junior champion, winning in 1995 as the third for Yanick Gaudreault and in 1997 as the third for Philippe Lemay. At the 1995 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Quebec finished with a 5–6 record. At the 1997 Canadian Juniors, the team finished the round robin with a 7–5 record, in a 5-way tie for 3rd place. They ended up losing their tiebreaker match to the Yukon team, skipped by Wyatt Redlin. Roy won his first provincial men's championship in 2004 as the second for Daniel Lafleur. At the 2004 Nokia Brier, Quebec finished with a 3–8 record. He won his second provincial championship in 2012 with Desjardins. 2021 Tim Hortons Brier
The 2021 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship, was held from March 5 to 14 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta. In the final, Team Alberta, skipped by Brendan Bottcher defeated Team Wild Card 2, skipped by Kevin Koe in an all-Alberta final, and a re-match of the 2019 Brier final. It was Bottcher's first Brier championship after losing the previous three finals. The first six ends of the final were evenly matched with Koe leading 1–0 heading into the seventh end. In the seventh, Koe's first rock picked, and he missed a double on his second shot, allowing Bottcher a draw for three, to go up 3–1. The two teams exchanged singles in the 8th and 9th ends, and in the 10th end, with just 30 seconds left on their time clock, Koe conceded with one rock left, as his team had no possibilities to score two points to tie the game. Kingston is a city in Ontario, Canada. The 2020 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship, was held from February 29 to March 8 at the Leon's Centre in Kingston, Ontario.
