Alejandro Hohberg
Alejandro Hohberg González (born 1991 in Lima, Peru) is a Peruvian football player who currently plays for Club Sporting Cristal. Hoberg is considered to be an important player in Peruvian domestic football, having played for some of the biggest clubs in Peru; including the 3 Lima giants - Universitario, Alianza Lima and his current side Sporting Cristal. His honours include the 2017 Torneo Apertura and Clausa and the 2017 Torneo Descentralizado Title with Alianza Lima, 2020 Apertura title, with Universitario, the 2021 Torneo Apertura title and the 2021 Copa Bicentenario with Sporting Cristal. Hohberg has played for the Peru National team, and was part of their squad for the Copa América Centenario. He is the grandson of Argentinian- born Uruguayan footballer Juan Hohberg, who played for Peñarol and played for Uruguay at the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland. Copa Bicentenario
The Copa Bicentenario is a football competition in Peru played by the Association football, football clubs of the Peruvian Primera División, Liga 1 and Peruvian Segunda División, Liga 2. It was founded in 2019 by the Peruvian Football Federation and is played as a domestic football cup competition between clubs of the first and second division. It is named after the bicentennial of Peruvian Independence. Sporting Cristal are the current defending champions. History In Peru, there has never been a championship with the exception of the Copa de Campeones del Perú which was formed in 1919. Many attempts were made to crate a championship for both Liga 1 and Liga 2 teams but all have been kept active. Peru International Footballers
Peru took part in the inaugural FIFA World Cup in 1930 and enjoyed victories in the 1938 Bolivarian Games and the 1939 Copa América, with goalkeeper Juan Valdivieso and forwards Teodoro Fernández and Alejandro Villanueva playing important roles. The 1954 FIFA World Cup was the fifth edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international football tournament for senior men's national teams of the nations affiliated to FIFA. It was held in Switzerland from 16 June to 4 July. Switzerland was selected as the host country in July 1946. At the tournament several all-time records for goal-scoring were set, including the highest average number of goals scored per game.
