Aleem Al-Razee
Aleem al-Razee was a Bangladeshi lawyer and politician. Early life Razee was born in 1925 in Karatia in Nagarpur Upazila, Tangail District, East Bengal, British India. He completed a M.A. and a law degree from University of Calcutta. He earned a PhD from the University of London. Career From 1949 to 1953, Razee was the chairman of the Muslim Welfare Association, London. He worked as the editor of The Oriental Times based in London. In 1953, he returned from London and joined the Dhaka High Court as a lawyer. In 1965, he was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from Mymensingh-1 as an independent candidate. In 1957, Razee founded City Law College, Dhaka and in 1968 he founded Nagarpur Degree College. He founded Lauhati Alim al-Razi Girls' High School in his village. From 1957 to 1972 he served as the President of City Law College, Dhaka. After the Independence of Bangladesh, he joined the National Awami Party (Bhashani) but left the party in 1974. Karatia Union
Karatia Union ( bn, করটিয়া ইউনিয়ন) is a union of Tangail Sadar Upazila, Bangladesh. It is a suburb of Tangail. The town is situated away from Tangail city, northwest of Dhaka city, the capital. It is the headquarters of the Karatia Zamindari family. Demographics According to the 2011 Bangladesh census, Karatia Union had 10,260 households and a population of 46,489. The literacy rate (age 7 and over) was 58.9% (male: 62.5%, female: 55.1%). Education Government Saadat College is located in this town. The Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association () is an association of Supreme Court lawyers in Bangladesh. History The Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association issued a statement expressing concern over the construction of Farakka Barrage by India near the border and preventing the flow of water to Bangladesh in February 1976. In 1987, the President of association was detained and placed in Dhaka Central Jail as part of a wider crackdown on dissent against the dictatorship of President Hussain Mohammad Ershad. In 1999, President of the association, Habibul Islam Bhuiyan, moved a petition in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court alleging statements of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was contemptuous of the court. The University Press Limited, commonly abbreviated as UPL, is an academic publishing house based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. UPL was established in 1975 as a successor to Oxford University Press' Dhaka branch where Mohiuddin Ahmed was chief executive. Its success in the publishing industry led to winning the '' National Book Centre Award'' 16 times since 1981. UPL is also the first publisher in Bangladesh to export books. As of 2018, UPL has published around 1,500 books. History Mohiuddin Ahmed was initially posted at the Karachi office of Oxford University Press. National Awami Party (Bhashani) is a left wing political party in Bangladesh. History National Awami Party (Bhashani) was established on 30 November 1967 when National Awami Party split into two different fractions. The pro-Moscow fraction was National Awami Party (Wali), led by Khan Abdul Wali Khan, and the pro-Beijing was called National Awami Party (Bhashani), led by Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani. On 17 November 1974, two leaders of the party, Kazi Zafar Ahmed and Rashed Khan Menon, formed a new political party called United People's Party.
