Alectown
Alectown is a town in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. The town is on the Newell Highway and in the Parkes Shire local government area, , west north west of the state capital, Sydney. At the , Alectown and the surrounding area had a population of 168. History Originally known as Alecs Flat, the district was named after the three men who first prospected here - Alexander Cameron, Alexander Patton, and Alexander Whitelaw. It was originally a gold mining town which once had a population above 1,000. ''Bachelors Rush'' Post Office opened on 1 May 1888 and was renamed ''Alicktown'' in 1889 and ''Alectown'' in 1891. It closed in 1983. Today, only two churches and some residences remain in the town. Orange is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is a regional electorate that covers four local government areas in their entirety: the City of Orange, Cabonne Council, Parkes Shire and Forbes Shire. The seat has been held by Philip Donato since a by-election in November 2016. Donato was initially elected as a member of the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party but resigned in 2022 and became an Independent. History Orange was created in 1859. A radio telescope is a specialized antenna and radio receiver used to detect radio waves from astronomical radio sources in the sky. Scott Westcott
Scott Westcott (born 25 September 1975) is an Australian runner. Born near Parkes, New South Wales, Westcott was an avid runner as a teenager, winning the 5000 m state championships. Westcott’s talent for the sport developed around the age of 10 after a terrifying incident whilst collecting eggs from the family chook pen. Westcott came face to face with a very cranky rooster who proceeded to chase Scott for around 25 terrifying kilometres, before the ordeal ended when the bird gave up the chase. Westcott revealed late in his career he often used flashbacks of the incident to improve his performances at big events. Westcott came fourth in the 2006 Commonwealth Games marathon with a time of 2:15:32.
