Aldrich Bailey
Aldrich Bailey Jr. (born February 6, 1994) is an American sprinter. He graduated from Mansfield Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas in 2012, and was committed to Texas A&M University in 2012. In 2014 Bailey transferred to the University of Texas as a Track and Field Athlete. On April 28, 2012, Bailey broke the U.S. High School Record in the 400 metres, previously held by Calvin Harrison of North Salinas High School, at the Texas Class 5A Region I meet in Lubbock, Texas. Harrison had held the record since 1993, a year before Bailey was born. He was an All-USA high school track and field team selection by ''USA Today'' in 2011 and 2012. Bailey was part of the US medley relay team that established a new World Youth Best at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics. He also competed in the 200 metres, but finished sixth. 2011 World Youth Championships In Athletics
The 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics were the seventh edition of the World Youth Championships in Athletics. They were held in Lille Métropole, France, with stadium-based events at Stadium Lille-Métropole in Villeneuve d'Ascq, on 6–10 July 2011. Eligible athletes were aged 16 or 17 on 31 December 2011 (born in 1994 or 1995). The event had record participation levels, with 1375 athletes (757 boys/618 girls) from 173 countries entering the tournament. Over the five-day competition, forty track and field events were contested (20 for boys and 20 for girls). A total of five world youth best marks were set in Lille. 400 Metres Hurdles
The 400 metres hurdles is a track and field hurdling event. The event has been on the Olympic athletics programme since 1900 for men and since 1984 for women. On a standard outdoor track, 400 metres is the length of the inside lane, once around the stadium. Runners stay in their lanes the entire way after starting out of the blocks and must clear ten hurdles that are evenly spaced around the track. The hurdles are positioned and weighted so that they fall forward if bumped into with sufficient force, to prevent injury to the runners. Although there is no longer any penalty for knocking hurdles over, runners prefer to clear them cleanly, as touching them during the race slows runners down. The best male athletes can run the 400 m hurdles in a time of around 46 seconds, while the very best female athletes achieve a time of around 51 seconds. Calvin Harrison
Calvin Harrison (born January 20, 1974) is an American athlete. He won a gold medal in the men's 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. He is the identical twin brother of fellow Olympic medalist Alvin Harrison. At the 2000 Olympics, Alvin Harrison and Calvin Harrison made history by becoming the first twins ever to compete and win Olympic gold medals together on the same relay team since the inception of the modern Olympic Games.
